Abraham definetly isn't busy enough to win vs. Pavlik or anyone else with a workrate, if he doesn't impress with power and lands a good number of shots in the second half of the fight. However, up to now, strangely noone "capitalized" on that easy knowledge. Wegener builds his gameplan on what he knows of Arthurs opponent. He won't use a Marquez gameplan vs. Taylor or Pavlik. I'm sure we will see a much more mobile Arthur, same way he evaded way more on the ropes with a "gunner" in Velazco. He can do it, just is too lazy to do it when he does not have to. I am also sure he will not try to give so many shots like he did in his last fight, knowing that Oral cannot hurt him. This tournament is to find out what Abraham is made of. The answer will unfold in the upcoming fights. And not coming from Pavliks promotion team.
v Kesssler, Kessler SD (A very close fight with both showing each other alot of respect but Kessler getting a hard fought decision) v Dirrell, Pavlik KO (Must admit I havn't seen much of Dirrell but he's in at the deep end here and I'd expect Pav to be way too much for him) v Ward, Pavlik KO (As Dirrell although a much tougher fight for Pav, what I've seen of Ward I really like looks a more rounded fighter to me than Dirrell) v Froch, Froch KO (A war! no doubt, If Pav doesn't get into a brawl, uses his jab and straight rights to fight clever I think he wins, but I dont think he'll be able to resist a tear up in which case the teak tough Cobra wins) v Abraham, Abraham KO (Again a war, For me this is a very very close fight but I give it to Abraham who has a rare skill only the very best fighters have and thats being able to adapt/change his plan during fights and find a way to win in the face of adversity) v Taylor, Taylor UD (I think Pavs confidence has took a massive hit and an experienced Taylor will be able to exploit this next time they meet IMO)
i'm not needling you here so don't think im just discounting your point b/c i'm not... but what dimensions do aa and froch and dirrell have that make kelly so beatable?? i like froch a lot but he is a walking example of what not to do in the ring, dirrell at this point in his career has no footwork (which also affects the pop on his punches) and very spotty d and aa/pav has been beat to death so i won't bore you.. kess and ward (to much lesser extent) would be tough w/ kess winning right now imo...
Look, against Miranda it wasn't the looping left hook which hurt Miranda. It was the first short right hand which came through. AA is underrated in terms of speed and accuracy. He isn't Jermaine Taylor, no way, but he's almost everytime fast enough to get the job done. Again, he's not a wild looping fighter who just has his lucky moments. Pavlik of course would've very good chances against him if he would stay outside, but this is a strategy Pavlik doesn't like. Pavlik is the one who tries to KO people with lots of combinations. AA is a guy with a superb defense and killer punches which are accurate and fast enough to give problems to nearly every fighter - also to Pavlik. If AA comes through which he does often enough, he produces damage and this is something which nobody can't take away from him. Nobody will be able to swallow AA's grenades with ease. However, it is true that he's isn't active enough to win fights against very good opposition by points, but my thesis is that he can shift up a gear if he has to.
