Kelly Pavlik vs Winky Wright who wins?

A prime Winky would easily outclass Kelly much like the way he did Tito. But now his footwork is too poor and I could see Kelly walking him down cutting off the ring and pounding on him. I still would like to see the fight though.

 

I have to agree with some of the earlier posters that Winky doesn't have the strength or aggression to keep Pavlik off him. Kelly would bust him up inside and take his legs away early, and as I can never see Winky hurting Pavlik like Taylor did, he probably ends up unconscious sooner than Taylor was. I would be surprised to see it go past 6, Pavlik does not let people get away from him, and will land a paralyzing shot, sooner rather than later.

You can't compare Wright's defense to Pavlik's. It's not even funny.

Pavlik might overpower Wright but Wright has the ability to make people miss and he's also got that stiff jab that he uses constantly to keep people at bay. I know there is no way Wright will hurt Pavlik but i think he would have a good shot. Again, if he isn't overpowered.

 

How is Winky going to easily beat Kelly Pavlik. Winky doesn't have much movement and he just covers up, comes forward, jabs, and throws volumes of punches. Against Pavlik, he would be facing the longer, bigger, and stronger fighter. Pavlik's jab would cover more ground and his powershots would break through Winky's defense. Pavlik is excellent at cutting off the ring and when he does, Winky would be blasted, especially with the upper cut.

Don't get me wrong, Winky is a great fighter, but against Pavlik, I don't see him having a good night...let alone an easy night.

 

Hard to say. We'll see how Winky looks when he goes back down in weight. Certainly not impossible for him to win, he just got in a bad stylistic matchup last time. Hopkins is all wrong for Winky because he can take Winky out of his comfort zone, something other people could not.

winky wright adopted the turtle defense after he got knocked down something like 5-6 times in a junior middleweight fight....

in other words his chin ain't that good for a junior middleweight.

so, you put him in there with a huge middleweight who could easily fill into light heavy in a few years, who has world class ko power and is a great finisher (unlike the dude that knocked wright down 5 times!). AND pavlik has a great jab which is always a must for any fighter, combined with excellent stamina etc. and you have an easy ko victory for kelly.

dont get me wrong, winky won some great fights in his day, but he's getting long in the tooth, fighting above his natural weight, a powder puff puncher, and doesn't have the punch output to stand any real chance of decisioning pavlik.

Are you crazy?, do you know how long ago that fight when Winky got knocked down was atsch , and furthermore Pavlik has been put on his ass more than once so the suckers who think he "can't be hurt" are talking out of their ass, just like when fools thought Floyd couldn't hurt Oscar too!! ,

I'm wondering how many people have actually seen Pavlik fight because the man is so one dimensional it's a joke, if Taylor wasn't so slack with his left hand he would have won the fight easy and Winky is better both technically and defensively and that's why he gives Pavlik a problem he's never faced before, Winky has been in with better fighters and has more experiance of fighting guys like Kelly while Kelly hasn't faced anyone like Winky, Winky doesn't leave himself open like Miranda and Taylor and that's when the questions will be asked.

I think a lot of you are forgetting that Winky's guard isn't nearly as tight as was in previous years. This is why fighters like Sam Soliman and Ike Quartey were able to land with regularity. Pavlik will wear Winky down, and stop him late.
