He doesn't belong at 170, he looked way different against Taylor and I knew he was going to look worse against Hopkins. The only reason I pick Pavlik to beat Hopkins was because I assumed Hopkins was getting even older at 43. Pavlik at 160 is nearly unbeatable, he has not lost there yet, and it's not shameful to lose to Hopkins at a class you've never fought at. Once he gets past Rubio as a warm up. Pavlik did not lose because of the 170. He lost because he's one dimensional, and Hopkins is a freaking legend! I think Pavlik still does beat lots of guys due to his power, but always thought that he's very beatable.
I haven't seen much of Abraham to give a confident prediction but I hope Pavlik is the same old Pavlik. Let's he wins his tune up.
I disagree. He looked slower and sluggish against Taylor in the 2nd fight and even more against Hopkins.
Kick ass post eze!! Pav will learn and come back a better beast than before. Interesting too, watch the fight on OnDemand and at the end Lampley is setting alone in a empty arena discussing it, and he says that Bernard now wants to take Pavlik under his wing (maybe go over with him his mistakes, etc.) and said if he had to he (B-Hop) would pick him up and take him to the gym him self. IMO, that was pretty cool. (Either that or it's a plot by Oscar to have him buddy up with Pav and get him away from Arum and over to GBP )
Hopkins is pure class, Im pretty sure when Pavlik beat Taylor the first time Hopkins commented on it and said he loved what Pavlik did (for multiple reasons). But I really enjoyed at the end of the fight he was really taking to Pavlik, talking to him about what he can do, and how great he can be. I would love for that to happen. Pavliks got nothing but everything to gain. I love Pavlik. I became a fan of his when he beat Zartuche and then a big fan when he beat Miranda.
Eze -- why do people keep saying Pavlik's fans have gone quiet? There are new threads that involve Kelly every freaking day! It's not like it is right before a big fight, but **** man, his next match is almost two months out, and Rubio is really nothing to get excited about. He's earned is mando position more than a lot of mandatories do, but still nothing to get jacked up about. Wait tell next summer before the AA fight! This place will be boiling with poster wars. After Kelly knocks AA out, we'll have dozens of ******ed noobies making Pavlik/Robinson, Pavlik/Haglar threads! The place will be running over with brand new Pavlickers.
