Alot of fans expect a quicker KO this time but i think Taylor will be less willing to engage and try to take a UD - problem is Pavlik has tons of stamina and IMO will wear Taylor down by the 9th or 10th for another painful KO

Of course I'm still interested to see how it will turn out this time.

Excited? Nopes . . . not like the first time when they are both undefeated.

Will JT rectify his mistakes? He'll try, but I don't believe he'll be succesful. He can't change his fighting style overnight irregardless who trains him.

Yes just as excited to gauge how Pavlik looks with more weight.

The first fight was great, and I expect this too be as well. What I fully expect to CHANGE is the incompetence of the judges. There's NO WAY in hell that Taylor was ahead as they had him.

I believe that Taylor will be much more reserved believing he can out box Pavlik to the decision. Nice theory perhaps, but it aint gonna happen:nono

Pavlik was out boxing Taylor after his round 2 carelessness. Pavlik will move forward and catch Taylor again. I expect Pavlik to be less careless as well(no more dropping hands). He'll still steam roll his to a win. If he's stronger at 66 and it helps his power some(hard to imagine it getting much harder, but sometimes a few pounds helps the fighters body be a little stronger and more effective overall).

Pavlik is going to finish him early. Lets say 5 or 6. JT proved last time that he cant brawl with him and he cant stand up to his right hand. So if JT doesnt come out after the bell looking like ray leonard and boxing big time he is in big trouble.

I will be surprised and very impressed if Taylor can take this after getting KTFO by Pavlik. I think Taylor will have an effective game plan going in to box and try for the U.D. Once he gets hit a few times, he'll revert back to his natural, mistake prone, style. Mentally, when under pressure, Taylor just does not have that "It" . "It", as in great competitors getting into a zone, seeing things in slow motion, like PBF, Joe Montana, Michael Jordan, and yes Kelly Pavlik. I was very impressed how Pavlik handled himself after being KD'd by Taylor in round #2. IMO, even with rubbery legs he managed to defend himself more so than Taylor was failing to finish him off. Did you see him in the corner before after round #2, he apologized to his handlers, "Sorry about that man" or something like that. Then he sat there calmy listened and came out ready for round #3. Impressive stuff.

    Impressive post, sthomas!:good

But be ready for an arguement from Amsterdam, one of the "most knowledgable boxing posters" here at ESB. :yep

He'll try his damnedest to convince you that Kelly Pavlik is a "B" Level fighter. So if KP is B level, I guess that makes PBF, Michael Jordan & Joe Montana B level also, from what you said.

But don't worry about his counters. He's up Joe Calzaghe's ass so far, he can't breath & gets light-headed most of the time. Deep down he fears the thought of Pavlik vs Calzaghe becoming a reality one day.

He doesn't have the stamina to last 12 rounds against Kelly under the kind of pressure he applies. Can't you guys see that???

Thank you for the kind words. Kelly is not yet in the same league with PBF, Montana, & Jordan ..... Maybe some day. I was just making a comparison of the mental ability to perform up to ones potential. Taylor does not show that ability to me, Kelly does. I like Calz. too. He's another guy who's got "It", the way he adapted to MK was also very impressive.

Your are very logical in your perception. Yeah, Calzaghe has yet to learn how to lose. He's got it. A fight between him & KP would be wild.

Remember that Taylor had 0 losses going into the fight with Kelly, & your right about KP's mental toughness helping to pull him through. I guess you can't say he's the complete package with his defensive issues (no matter how slight they are), but what he does & how he does it have been very effective up til now.

Being that he proved it against a P4P fighter like Jermain, shows he belongs up there with the best in the sport today, so yeah, go ahead & rank him up there with the elite.

Pavlik KO 5. Taylor will not make it to his feet this time. He does not process competition (for lack of a better description) at the elite level, and his natural tendencies to drop his hands and stand flat-footed are going to get him stopped early. Whatever chance he had flew out the door when he hired his buddy Nelson to train him. A terrible mistake.

Having said that, I'm not as high on Pavlik as some. I'm not sure how he'll deal with a guy with speed, movement and defense. Of course, there presently is no one at 160 who fits that description, which is why Kelly should stay there as long as he can.

Even Taylor, limited as he is, was ahead on the cards at the time of the stoppage. Whatever your score in that fight, Taylor certainly wasn't being outboxed by Kelly, and Taylor is not an especially good boxer.

At 168, I think he'd get his ass kicked by Kessler (better speed and skills), and even someone like Andre Ward could prove to be a real problem. He'd have almost no chance against today's version of Calzaghe.

Taylor has never been able to block straight punches and can't punch straight either. He's faster than Pavlik, but he loops them/telegraphs them too much.

The only reason the fights with Nard were close is that Nard didn't want to get hit at all. So all Jermain had to do is to flurry whenever Nard would attack and impress the judges. Against Pavlik, who keeps his hands up and doesn't mind taking 1 in order to dish 1, Taylor gets beat to the punch all night.

Pavlik is all wrong for Taylor.

If Taylor fights smart and uses his natural athleticism to box Kelly, he will cruise to an easy decision victory. As it is, however, Taylor will likely fall straight back while trying to slug it out everytime Kelly Pavlik comes forward and will get knocked out again. I hate to disparage anyone, but Taylor seems to have no ring intelligence whatsoever.

Churn, nice avatar. What's that guys name again? I'm assuming that's a parlor guitar in his lap, if not he's a big man..

Back to Taylor. I really do not think it's intellegence he lacks. I think it's his ability to process information well when he's under pressure. Although I was never a QB on an organzed team, I played quarterback in a couple pick up games, . The first game I had time to throw and was picking apart the other team. My teamates thought I was the man. The next game there was some good pressure applied to me, and I freakin' froze between my ears. Almost like a TV on static!! I forgot where my receivers were, got flushed, sacked, I basically sucked. I was replaced by a quick little guy, he made plays and we won the game. It was a humbling exerience. My performance in my second game reminds me of how Taylor fights when under pressure.
