What was it that ended Him? the Hopkins humiliation? the Martinez beating? the alcohol abuse? all three? I think He would loose to Froch and Degale.
He aint ended. He was never an A level fighter to begin with. He beat Taylor who has a wet paper towel chin when his defense decreases later in fights. Pavlik checked it and became a titlist. But....that said....he could still beat the winner of Abe Steiglitz and win a title....so who cares if he's not the best.....he NEVER was anyways.:good
I guess your'e right. HINDSIGHT is 20/20. So, yeah, if we didnt know Taylor was trash, we'd still think Pavlik was good at some point.:rofl
KP made the absolute most out of a fairly slim skillset. He was always going to have problems with more complete fighters. The two natural skills he possesed, though, were punching power and a solid chin, meaning he would get past pretty much everybody else, and always entertain.
hahaha, **** off!! Pavlik is a very skilled fighter!!! and an extremely tough fighter, and yeah he got handled by hopkins, because he thought he could just steamroll through a man in mid 40's. And the martinez fight was anything but an easy fight for Sergio... Id say, it was an extremely tough fight and so would he, Pavlik has had some hard times, but he's on his way back up, fighting very regularly and gradually increasing his quality of oppostion. You shall see him comeback to the very top. Mark my words...
He isn't done but all 3 things hurt him. He had a great showing against Martinez but Loew brought in an inexperienced cutman which hurt him badly. I think losing his title fueled the alcohol abuse which delayed his comeback. He may lose to Froch but not DeGales that is laughable.
The answer to your question is all pretty much in your opening post , Hopkins was the trigger , Pavlik was supposed to be too big too strong and too young for Hopkins , Hopkins stood his ground , didn't take a meaningful shot all night and schooled him The doubt starts to creap in , Pavlik hits the bottle , Sergio batters him @160 , a JrMW who doesn't really pack at that weight stands in the pocket and beats Pavlik to a pulp Pavlik hits the bottle , he can no longer make 160 , he nows he's a basic 1 - 2 fighter with no pop above 160 and you have what we call today Kelly Pavlik , washed up looking for one last decent 6 figure payday , however , he will always be the man who beat the man Jermaine Taylor :deal , just as Taylor himself was the man who beat the man Benard Hopkins
He was always a limited fighter, overrated because of obvious reasons People still do it now, laughably
