His body is queeving for the hard juice. Needs to be court ordered to a hospital/treatment center, and be medically supervised while he dries out. He don't he dies.
Damn, seriously? I used to think that his drinking was kinda funny but it's just sad now. How does a world class athlete, who has only been retired for a couple years, get like that so fast?
I can garuantee you that he was drinking through out his career. Probably even in camps, with that level of drinking you can´t just turn it of and on). You can´t (at least to my knowledge) have seizures and s**t after just a couple of years of drinking.
Nard took his soul, and ruined him as a fighter. I thought he bitched out after losing to Hopkins, and made excuse after excuse after being stopped by Sergio. But i wish him and his family all the best, and i hope he can sort himself out.
His act, is starting to remind me of Tommy Morrison part 2.. Bottom line is if he doesn't stop hitting the booze he will die. One has to wonder if he blew all of the money he made out of his ass. Those fights with Taylor ruined both him and Jermain, they were some brutal fights..
Pavlik had problems with alcohol long before the Hopkins' fight. I remember seeing fellow Youngstowners of his posting about his drinking problems on message boards before he went anywhere near him, saying that it wasn't exactly an uncommon occurrence to see him wandering from bar to bar pissed out of his head. He was getting himself into trouble in bars as long ago as at least 2006. He got himself arrested for punching an off-duty cop who was moonlighting as a bouncer after he tried to throw him and some of his friends out for being unruly.
Sad story. From a purely boxing standpoint, imagine what he could've been if he'd had the discipline to focus 100% on the sport and stay alcohol-free. With all the lost training time and diminished training quality that come with that lifestyle, along with the physical toll it takes, he sabotaged his own potential. Kelly still accomplished more than 99.9% of pros that lace them up, but I can't help but shake that there's still a sizable "what-if" component story even taking the title into account. More importantly, what cost him his career looks to be costing him his life and is inflicting a lot of pain on everyone around him as they go through it. I sincerely hope he gets his life straightened out before it's too late.
You can if all your doing is drinking. Pavlik is probably drinking (spirits) from morning to night whilst hardly eating. If he carry's on this way he will be dead within a year. Another thing when Pavlik was younger I heard he never touched a drop and it was only later in his career when he became Champ he started drinking and partying a lot. I hope the champ gets well soon.
Guys who box usually have few options. They happen to be gifted in the profession of pain. Let's not make these guys out to be more than they are. If Pavlik hadn't gotten recognition in boxing he would have been dead or drugged out long ago. He had a good ride. Let's hope he can get his house in order and get a regular job at Walmart or the like.
guy is a total train wreck of a human. its a damn shame a total waste of talent. huge fan of his, one of my all time favorite fighters and i, along with a few others, supported the guy ad nauseum on here. i used to be a prosecutor and spent a lot of time in court with addicts. people that far gone don't always come back despite all the platitudes about always being able to start over. true story: there used to be some posters on here close with his camp. one very, very close. would get a lot of info through pms about what was really going on with him despite the public excuses. during the martinez camp, i was told that the team was looking at gyms in my area (actually just south) to get kelly out of ohio. turns out they weren't looking for gyms they were looking for rehab facilities. kelly ultimately went into rehab and the damn fool fought martinez a couple weeks after getting out.
