    Good take:good
Kelly Pavlik made me a believer in the Miranda fight. I couldn't see him losing to anyone after that. I thought for sure he was heading for ATGness.

But that was back when Bute was just a green fighter beating C class fighters.
If someone asked me 5 years ago if Bute or Pavlik would be the best MW/SMW fighters in the world I would have picked KP by a mile.
But after seeing Bute, his ackward style and absolutely viscious body attack, I can't see anyone in the MW or SMW, or even LHW division giving him any trouble.
Then again, I am probably Bute's biggest nuthugger on this board, and I admit it. It will take the likes of Kessler, Ward, Pavlik, Froch, or BHOP to change my opinion, and I can't see any of these guys beating him. JUST IMO.

Ward will be the most dangerous in that departament, and maybe Dirrell second.

after reading this...... everyone wants his favourite fighter to win, but let's not get all carried away here; this is not going to be an easy fight for any of the two.I believe Pavlik is gonna be top shape come fight night he's been through all that before; it's not like Bute hasn't but you know he's only been performing in front of his own fans and now he'll probably be fighting where Pavlik has already fought (Atlantic City or Vegas), maybe face a bit of adversity from American boxing fans... I don't know but these things count.
So I do not agree Bute's the favourite fighter going into this.

If Bute hits Pavlik like Martinez did in the early rounds, it won't go to the 10th.

You can't compare Martinez and Bute. Big weight and power difference. Even their style is different. Martinez begins strong, Bute begins slowly.

Pavlik may shock the boxing world but you haven't convinced me yet. ;)

    this...^

I still say a prime Pavlik (Taylor days) KO's Bute late, but this version gets smashed for 12 rounds. Kelly's got a beard so it will go the distance unless it ends by cuts...

I saw an interesting video interview with Rubin Williams. Apparently Williams and Pavlik knew each other fairly well in their amateur days. This business of KP doing things the "experts" say he can't do goes all the way back to Kelly's Under 16 PAL days. According to Rubin one of the things Kelly consistently did was win fights he was supposed to lose.

Wishfull thinking, Boo!! I hope this fight gets made and nobody gets hurt bad. I like both guys but I feel KP is not gonna be able to regain his best shape, physically, he may be close, but most important, his mind shape.

Pavlik is very good for boxing, but there is very little chance he wins this fight. I don't think he would have won 4 years ago either. Bute is bad matchup for him. Kelly just needs to be competitive and give a good fight. Bute is the top man at 168, well with Ward and Froch, but he will beat the winner of that fight.

if pavlik brings it, he will win. Theres talk of him going old school with his training for the Bute fight. Thats sounds like hes planning on making bute fight going backwards and being a pressure fighter, to wear Bute down. If Pav can get it started by round 3 and throw 80 to 90 a round, lots of lefts to the body, and get his double the f'n jab going, It will be lights out. The question is, Is Kelly.

His chances are slim to none at this point IMO, but I'm not completely sold on Bute either...

Bute, naturally fights going backwards. Even when he gets guys hurts he backs up to counter.

To the Pavlik fans....(Booradley, Hermit, Pipe Wrenched, BDouziane, Rustbelt, etc..) If Pavlik does cause an upset and beats Bute...

1- Who do you think he should fight next ?

2- Who do you think he would fight next ?

A pick em. The s6 winner has the winner of this fight and the winner of mikel v stieglitz. Plus a hopeful swansong against dirrel.

Looks like the smw is gonna stay hot for the time being.
