My feeling on this one is that Juan much favours the come forward aggressor
Give him a Katsidis or a Baby Bull Diaz...and he knows where to find them..and if they are tough nuts to crack so be it, he can chisel away and ultimately sculp an exciting victory...However Ken Buchanan is not someone that you find easily or with consistancy, Be it spinning off the ropes like a Tartan top..or launching a burst of Jabbing, Kenny must of been a frustrating Houdini to pin down with any degree of consistancy, the one hope for Juan is perhaps if he can Time Buchanan to perhaps offset his mobility, it was noticeable that the aged Carlos Ortiz, with time blunted firing pins, in the first couple of rounds, was able to time and maneuver Kenny to a degree, of course Kenny made some adjustments...Carlos wound down...and retired with Honour...Those Invisible overcoats of age can be impediments that can not be shaken off...

So the younger Juan may have some isolated successes, he is too good not to, but i just feel that Ken denies Juan the static material he needs to sculp that victory, I think its no coincidence that Floyd had an easy time with Juan or indeed that the Boxing MAB Ran Juan very Close...put it down to styles...
    Ken Buchanan on points.

Buchanan would have decisively beaten JMM. I know this is a name that rankles many JMM fans, b ut I'll use it anyway...Chris John...even if you think Marquez was robbed....he gave him trouble in the very least. Now picture a guy who is at leat 5 times better than Chris John, and you'll have Ken Buchanan. The Scot could not only box and move, but he was TEAK TOUGH with a granite chin and he had an edge to his fighting style..a vindictive, contentious fighting spirit that would have taken him to a relatively easy decision over JMM.

In this one, if anybody was to take a count, kd or ko, it would be the less than sturdy Marquez...not Ken.

JMM does great with come forward aggressive fighters like Diaz ,Katsidis,Pacquiao,Jandaeng etc fighters who take the lead take risks and let themselves open for him to counter punch and exploit their mistakes and their errors with his pin point counter punching accuracy but against fighters who move, are fairly fast of hands and feet and guys who force him to lead he struggles it happened against an old way past it Casa, it happened with John and Mayweather but lets not even go there and it even happened with the average Julian Wheeler who was beating him before the ref gave JMM a gift and stopped the fight prematurely in the last round when Wheeler was ahead in two of the judges scorecards. In Buchanan you have almost the perfect fighter to beat JMM. Great Footwork, very good speed, a terrific jab, great chin and was as tough as they come, he would box circles around Marquez and make him look awful on his way to a lopsided win in Ken's favor.

Remember that it took a flagrantly low blow by Duran to score that "tko" over Buchanan. If he kept em up, I believe Buchanan would have easily gone the distance...losing a 15 round decision. And that 1st round "kd" was bull****. I think it would have enhanced Buchaman's legacy quite a bit if the record books read "L Dec. 15" instead of L by tko. At any rate, Buchanan would have made JMM look ordinary by comparison.
