remember he beat laguna twice and fought at madison square garden even as the main fight with ali on the undercard, imo no 1 ever beats duran at lightweight -135 lbs,but buchanan the scottish guy gave him a run for his money even dropping duran in the fight, and theyre still debating whether duran hit ken low in what was it the 11th round?
All i know is ken has had a ruptured testicle that to t5his day needs a doctors check up now n again ,1 things for sure buchanan was a world claa boxer and had 1 of the best left hands ever. The americans really liked him.

Well he certainly beats anyone bar Rios, but honestly I think Rios gets outboxed before getting to him late. I think Acosta is a really good boxer who fought to the best gameplan but Rios just keeps coming, and can box a bit too.

Not many will agree I fell, but that's how I see it.

If Duran couldnt put away Buchanon within 12 rounds what makes you think Rios can?

i agree with the guy below ,rios could never take a young 135lb duran 12 rounds ,no way hozay! ken buchanan would box rios ears off on the outside.ud win for ken.

True, was thinking over 15 as in a fantasy match, but obviously wouldn't be that in today's Lightweight scene. Good chance of beating everyone I reckon. Duran boxed further off him than I think Rios would do though, plus Rios is bigger due to day before weigh ins. Gut feeling more than evidence based though. Does make a difference if you are boxing to win over 12 rather than 15 though.

i agree with you to an extent scott ,look at how knackered/tired todays boxers are going into the last minute of the 12th round in a gruelling tough tough war, then look at buchanan, ali, leonard after the same tough fights over 15 ROUNDS? it dont make sense to me with all the advanced sports science of today, dieti cians, nutritionists, strength coaches, better training equipment/technology,compared to the 70s where it was basic hard training and the fighters did the 15 rounds no problem? its like i said i was a pro and 85%
of this game is mental, thats why it looks crazy. In the 70s the guys knew they had to go 15 and it was hardwired into their brain ,simple as that.

Ken would have ruled 135 a lot longer if Duran wasn't around.
The Scotsman was hard as nails and had skills.
Probably top twenty all time at 135, just based on the wins over Laguna alone.

    This.

Buchanan had excellent skills and a very good beard. Losing to Duran at 135lbs is no shame at all. Duran would just about murder the current crop of 135lbers.

Buchanan would rule the lightweight division today, no doubt about it. Only Marquez has a chance.
