I'm glad that Ken's getting a statue. Nice honour.

Yeah Eddie was seen as saint for what he did at Aberfan and he was a great boxer in his own right.
I don't know about you but I still remember Aberfan like I do Myra Hindley.
One of my trainers loved Howard Winstone
and the kids who boxed for him all wore red SEER boxing trunks like Winstone and Buchanan.
I'm not sure why Jimmy was into Welsh boxers ????
Thomas and Buchanan had their differences but I'm sure they worked them out.
I'd like to have met him too.

Seriously that was a blatant robbery of Ken. Not only was it blatant & low it was also after the bell to end the round. A final foul in a foul filled performance by Duran. When ref LoBianco was questioned about it he insisted the punch was legal & before the bell even after watching a re run which proved he was wrong. Ken was in agony.
Glad to hear Ken is getting a statue etc If any fighter deserves its Ken Buchanon

I do indeed recall Aberfan very well. Really sad. Same with those maggots,Brady and Hindley.

I saw some pics of Kenny with amateur boxing legend Dick McTaggart only recently.
He still looked like he could hit 135lbs pretty easily.

Regarding Aberfan I’m the same mate.
I remember coming in from school at tea time and my mother in tears about it as it was all over the
TV, I hadn’t realised Eddie Thomas had been involved at Aberfan.

You are so right rossco, my man..like you've always been regarding the Great Scot.. The boxing scene as you describe it in Britain truly makes me sick...

I'm sure there must have been a lot of tears and prayers said at the time.
