Who takes it at 140 lbs ? Most would go for The Hawk but Ken had the ability and toughness to run him close.
I love this matchup- total contrast in styles. Kenny's great jab and beautiful movement against Aaron's insane workrate and punches from all angles. Kenny is as tough as they come and I would never rule him out, but Aaron is more suited for 140. Aaron by close decision.
i have to go against one of my all time heroes and say that King Ken wouldn't be able to stay with Pryor for 12 rounds and would get outpointed Buchanan never had problems making 135lb, even today he's probably only a welter if the match was made at lightweight id favour the Scot.
Ken's big problem is he can't hit hard enough to get Pryor's respect like Arguello did. Pryor would be all over him, though Ken may be tough enough to make it to the final bell.
No he wouldn't. Not a chance. Buchanan was tough as nails, but he simply didn't have the firepower to keep Pryor off of him. He had good legs, but Pryor was too quick on his feet for Buchanan to dance around him. He'd cut him off. I don't think Buchanan gets stopped, but Pryor wins a commanding decision.
In a worst case scenario (for me),...Pryor beats Buchanan by virtue of his work rate...and there's no way he ko's Ken. I happen to think that Kenny could have won narrowly by a decision...by virtue of toughness and that jab,
Pryor would win a clear decision, something along the lines of 10-5, 9-6. A bout at lightweight would be more interesting.
I cant see pryor taking king ken out inside the distance and thinking the scot is feather fisted is a mistake.ask Roberto duran
If Buchanan doesn't get stopped, he gets the hell beat out of him. No way he could keep up with a prime Pryor.
Buchanan to survive the early onslaught and take the later rounds. Pryor wins over 12. Buchanan wins over 15.
