If there was a particular flaw in his style it was his habit of having to feel out opponents for too long before getting into his groove, which cost him on points in some occasions and would cost him against some of the better slicksters. He wasn't the most athletic fighter though, which is why he relied on his boxing brain more than anything, analyzing his opponents abilities in mid-bout. Again, that would cost him against certain stylists. Otherwise I don't really see many flaws from a technical standpoint.
Did john conteh beat an ATG in his own inferno like backyard? NO conteh never fought the best in his division. he avoided galindez I like conteh. he was a very good fighter but I think he gets overated a lot Its unfair to say that Ken was only half as good as him
Not unfair at all. I don't rate Ken nearly as highly as you probably do. Anyway the point is Buchanan gets his due far more than a lot of other talented Brits around here. That's fair enough, but i don't have to agree.
Buchanan was a very good boxer with good power, Alex was a stalker who threw his punches strait and down the pike with better power than Ken...I see this fight being close and going the full route...barring cuts Ken can pull out a SD 15...close one...toss up
Bit harsh mate, he required surgery and hospitalisation after the bout. He wasn't looking for a way out at all, he'd fought reasonably well not long before the finish. He also chased a rematch for some time but Duran wouldn't accomodate apparently.
Buchanan was pissing blood for a while after the fight. And he's gets pain down below all these years later. So he claims.
