Apparently part of the non-rematch story was that Buchanan fired his manager after he lost the title and decided to manage himself.

By his own admission, he “sat around waiting for the phone to ring.”

 

His split with manager Eddie Thomas (who also managed Howard Winstone at the time) was definitely not a friendly one. There was some issue with the British Boxing Board of Control too, but I can't recall it at the moment, although I know I've read about it.

Bumping this thread from 2018. Too me, this is an excellent matchup between the two toughest 70's opponents for the great Roberto Duran.

 

I’d probably favour Ken over 15, mostly due to his size and strength, taking over in the last 4 or 5 rounds to win by close UD or SD.
Couldn’t discount Esteban though. A great match up, shame this one never happened.

 

Style-wise this would be a joy fest for purists (count me as one) as we watched this chess match, both guys having some tough warrior in them but also calculating three moves ahead.

 

Esteban De Jesus got outlasted in familiar fashion vs Antonio Cervantes, Buchanan 1-3 points margin UD.

Otherwise,if you're talking about a non title bout with 10-12 rounds in, either fighters could win by SD.
