Duran was a fierce puncher at 135. Even if you think Mosley's was better, the gap is not "massive", irrespective of weight. Mosley did not immediately one-punch everyone he came across at 135, therefore the gap was not massive, because Duran's KO percentage and the manner of his KO wins were formidable enough to make it a close call.

Duran's power is underrated, Mosley's power is very good. I like SweetPea's observation that Mosley had faster hands but was not a faster fighter overall, precisely right also in saying that one of his biggest attributes is that he has that explosion ability withhis hands.

Duran's power is overrated if anything, IMO. Thats how I view everyone elses opinion on his power. He was no "powder puff" puncher by any means, although also not chilling either. Accumulation puncher more than anything. I would say his power at lightweight is around the same as Hagler's at middleweight or thereabouts.

Just over some considerable amount of time now i've seen people express opinions that he doesn't hit hard. That's false for me, he hit hard, and yes it was accumulation that usually got opponents out of there, but if one were to suggest that he wasn't a puncher at all i think that's off by a long way. Yeah your Hagler comparison is not bad. They both hit hard for me, we're not talking Julian Jackson type power here.

Most of Duran's stoppages at lightweight were more from single shots doing really bad damage then the opponent being gone soon after, rather than Chavez'esque steady drubbings.

I'd say he was somewhere in between the true KO artists and the hard hitting accumulation fighters. On similar ground to fighters like Wilfredo Gomez and Ruben olivares, who if you were being strict, hardly scored any outright one-punch knockouts either.

I don't understand why people keep pointing to Buchanan's ability to take Duran's punch as some kind of proof that he'd beat Mosley.

Yes, technically speaking, he did take Duran's punch - and take it, and take it, and take it. It's not like he won the fight, or even made it close, he just got overwhelmed and battered.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mosley does something similar. I think he just has too much talent and tools for Buchanan.

I guess i'd pick Buchanan to win it on boxing plus grit, which I think would get hi through some tough moments. This is one I would love to see over 15 rather than 12.

The problem here is that Mosley was only seriously troubled by jabs (ie: vs. Forrest and Winky) when they came from someone genuinely tall, and not only that, when they came from someone bigger.

Mosley was fairly tall for a LW (about 5'9" I believe) and was able to put that height to much more use than he could at the higher weights.

Tho i don't agree with your comparisons (i really think Gomez, certainly, hit harder comparatively at 122) i think your anology is spot on and perfectly stated. I'd put Hagler in the same bracket.

Ugh, I shouldn't have said "massive". It's semantics at this point.

I feel Mosley hits harder by a decent degree.

why is everyone going on about Durans power, Buchanan beat Laguna who had a pretty good dig himself and he won that fight, Mosleys power wouldnt really trouble Ken
