Buchanan isn't usually ranked in the upper echelon of lightweights, but he was an excellent stylist and very tough... Ike Williams- Could Buchanan pull a Willie Joyce???... A prime Carlos Ortiz- How would this differ? Duillo Loi- Contrasting styles...
Ken was very underrated, unfortunately Duran was born in the same era and that one fight was marred by a weird ending. I think Ken could hold his own in any era, I was a big fan of his talent and toughness
Me too Bummy...I'm a lifetime fan, and I think he beats all three. that combination of talent and toughness was pretty formidable.....and if it weren't for that flagrant low blow, would likely have taken Duran to the distance...something that would have made Kenny even more unique until the night that Edwin Viruet went 15 with Duran.
Ken Buchanan, brilliant fighter. Could box, solid jab, could stand and fight, durable... very underrated. Would do well in any era.
Ken was offered a rematch in Panama... which he turned down believing he would be stiffed by a home town decision. I think he beats all 3 boxers mentioned. Buchanan was brilliant inside the ring, but his biggest mistake was firing his manager and his career suffered for it. Last i heard he wasnt in a good way. Hope he is on the up and up :good
