WHAT PART OF BUCHANAN IS FIVE FEET SEVEN AND A HALF INCHES TALL DO YOU NOT COMPREHEND?
With your singular mindset on these proposed hypothetical ,different era fights ,I have to seriously question why you would choose to post on them?

Well surely you have the imagination to take Tony as he was against Kenny as he was?

Canzi also thought he himself was big enough to compete for the Light Welter title...

of course, but in these cases of mythical match up, usually among bigger fighters I must admit, but they try to pit a 6'1 Hopkins, for example, against all the Tony Zale's you wish to name as if they are both Natural MWs, but of course their not...

all the Bhops, Calzaghe's and RJJ's in Zale's time would have actually been L-HW cum HWs, they are truly & in fact 2 different sets of Fighters, Size, Stature and Weight DIVISION Wise, who enjoy Todays 3-4 months between fights to shake of 20 - 30lbs. that's all I'm saying, the Zales and previous Era's NEVER Operated like that, Most Fighters Fought in & around the Natural Weight of their typical height & stature, producing men On AVERAGE Truly at near the same size as each other in all divisions.

Most people on here get that and know fine well what I am pointing out and many of them agree and state similar responses in these kind of threads, in fact one Poster Stated it Perfect BIG Men Squeezing into Smaller Men's Bodies & Divisions... think it might have been Seamus or McGrain, but one of the regular poster addressed it perfectly.

But yes to your question, can I imagine Kenny & Tony C meeting at LW, YES and I answered it, Tony C IS the Better Man, but the BIGGER Buchanan (in Every Way), might be too Big for Tony Canzoneri.

When Buchanan had a fight scheduled at WW against Paduano, he could have come in at whatever weight he wanted, below 147. He was going up against a naturally much heavier boxer, but instead of adding some extra pounds to his skinny frame (now that he didn't have to make the LW limit, like he had to in his title fights), what did he do?... Yes, at 136 he came in A WHOLE POUND over the LW limit!!

Why do you think he decided to weigh no more than that against a full-fledged welterweight? Could it be, that it was a natural weight for him... where he neither felt overweight, nor had to cut back to make a specific weight? Simply the weight where he felt most comfortable... or am I crazy, if I think that?

To claim that Buchanan would never box as a LW during Canzoneri's time, is completely absurd, imo!

Thistle has a vivid imagination. It just doesn't stretch to hypothetical matchups.

I’m picking Canzoneri but it would be close and it would be a lot of fun to watch. Definitely going to points this one.
