To my British posters, who would you wage your shillings on in a 15 round
bout between Ken Buchanan and Jackie Kid Berg for the lightweight title ?

buchanan would win this battle of 2 of favourites by decision.although berg would throw more punches the scot would land the better ones.
    good match up burt

A great matchup! Kenny "sticks" the kid enough for the clear win.

the beautiful boxer Ernie Roderick who was a master boxer & technician and much better than Buchanan beat the aged Kid Berg and probably would have at any stage, such was Roderick's finesse. But a prime Berg who fought in a brutally tough era with competition abound, I think he edges Kenny and would more often than not, just as Duran punished him too.

I don't think this is an obvious win for Buchanan. Berg beat the likes of Canzaneri, Kid Chocolate and Billy Petrolle which are arguably better wins than any Buchanan achieved.

Makes sense to me...Kid Berg threw Greb like volleys, and fought much, much better competition than Buchanan...His sheer number of punches
has to get through to Buchanan...

I think Berg has the better record, and beat some fighters who were better than Buchanan. Certainly I'd rate Kid Chocolate higher than KB on the all-time rankings.
It's hard to say who would win though. Buchanan was a tremendous boxer.

Petrolle never did it for me.A ponderous fighter who couldn't cup Ismael Laguna's balls.

i've got a good amount of Berg footage, he's one of the most disappointing British boxers on film of all-time for me.Effective for sure though, but imo he wouldn't beat Buchanan over a series of fights or in a peak for peak scenario...yet could easily sneak one or two win's if they were fighting in the same era and going through the various peaks and dips in form you do, especially over ten rounds.

I was really hoping to see in Berg a sort of British Jung-koo Chang in terms of intuitively skilled swarming volume fighters, but he wasn't on that level of talent imo.More of a better version of Dave boy Green...a really good water carrier.
