The 90s was stacked....if you fought in that decade it just wasn't fair man. You had to get past The Fan man, Mike Tyson in prison, Riddick Bowe's blink or you'll miss it title reign, Holyfield's retirements, Lennox Lewis confidence builders, Ray Mercer's bribery, GOAT Champions Moorer and Old Foreman trading the all mighty lineal title. Ike's *****, Tua's hair, and Golota's fouls. Than you have such outstanding belt holders such as Bruce Seldon, Olvier Mcall, and Frank Bruno. . And of course the monster in my avatar, keeping everybody honest, seperateing the contenders from the pretenders. No way any fighter from any other decade could make it through such a guantlet of prime and ready talent.

:rofl Exactly! Young always went to war because of his enormous heart, pride, determination and faith in his insane power! No heavyweight in history could whoop him decisively!

...Ibeabuchi's ***** once stopped a charging Rhino in its tracks. FACT! Shortly thereafter, a retired Jimmy Young kayo'd that ***** with one punch during a "dark exhibition". This gives Young the most impressive resume of all times. Technically.

On a h2h basis.., Young was capable of making each of them regret being in the ring with him. He was more than able to make them all look foolish..and of course I'm talking about a prime '75-'79 Jimmy Young.:deal

It's doubtful that the judges would ever let Young "retire undefeated"...Jimmy Young's biggest threats were not his opponents...but the crooked officials.

Amen to that, Young's actual record should be 54-2, with his only losses being to Shavers & Cooney, those 17 decision losses were all disgracefully crooked!:fire

I believe it. I think it was Ron Lyle who said that Young hit harder than Foreman or Cooney! I need to dig back in my collection and find the quotes.

SNV is still a modern active fighter, in that he hasn't officially retired.

Those lists only include retired legends (and Bert Cooper).

Muhammad Ali had no confidence that he would have beaten Young in a rematch..I don't care how damned "in shape" he would have been...neither was Kenny Norton..he wanted NO MORE of Jimmy Young anymore. Thanks to the crooked, wicked judges, Young wasn't crowned heavyweight champion...ditto vs Norton...if Young had been rightfully crowned the winner vs Ali, he would have fought Foreman...in a damned air conditioned arena and over the 15 round distance, somewhere in rounds 13, 14 or 15, would have stopped big George. The old, fat, lovable Foreman would have been TOTALLY befuddled over 12 and would have lost...a prime Young would have decked and stopped Gerry Cooney...and the man who stopped him in Youngs 11th pro bout...Mr. Shavers.....if they were rematched anywhere from '75 thru '77 would have been shut out.

Ahhhhhhh, okay. I was worried the capitalists had hacked your account or something. :good

This is getting sad...For anyone man enough to face Jimmy Young! :bbb:bbb:bbb

  13. i am not sure about old foreman 90 vs young.... he gave the hell to peak evander. old foreman was more patient, he had better stamina, and he had experience, i think that young would fight better against the version of foreman76-77 always.
and yes, ali never did beat young or norton, of course prime young would humiliate cooney.

Remember combatesdeboxeo...the latter day Foreman was also much slower, and less explosive...but, aside from that you're on target!:good

I'd say Jimmy's prime was '75-'77,Cobra. By 1978,he was losing to the likes of Ossie Ocasio.
