I feel terrible for Ken, he spent so many years of his life being the epitome of a physical speciman, but in recent years he's needed a walker to get around and has a lot of trouble speaking. It's just very, very sad.
He got in a pretty horrible car wreck in the mid 80's that seemed to do a lot of damage. Hope he's doing as well as can be.
Ya, that's probably what has led to all of his health problems within the last 10-15 years too. I know he's had more than 1 stroke now.
Yeah, the car crash was the beginning. He got brain damage in that incident it is what gave him the speach impediment. He never fully recovered from the accident.
It's very poignant, regarding Ken's accident in 1986,when you see him talking in the Champions Forever film. You're reminded that both he and Muhammad Ali at one time were the most articulate, speechwise, out of all five of them, but for different reasons, had muffled voices.
Love Ken, remember as a 10 year old watching the first Ali fight live on a Saturday night UK time (my Mum let me stay up late to watch it!). When he won he was a hero to me and has stayed that way ever since. Unquestionably one of my favourite half a dozen fighters ever! Very rarely gets his just due imo, Holmes said he was his toughest opponent and called him a great fighter...if Norton is great on Holmes's eyes, he should be considered great by the rest of us, no? Sincerely hope he gets well as soon as possible...
Muhammad Ali was always my number one,but Ken was probably my second favourite heavyweight. Good fighter and good guy.
