That's speculation. Maybe he would, maybe he wouldn't.

Like how he destroyed Garcia when they first fought?

At least Norton avenged that loss. Anyway that loss was one of norton's very early fights

    Top 5 wins:

    Ali
    Young
    Quarry
    Bobick
    Stander
    Cobb

    Wlad's resume:

    Top 5 wins:

    Byrd I
    Peter I
    Chambers
    Brewster
    Chagaev

thanks for posting these, for me this shows clearly that norton has the better wins and that wlad's competition is weak but he can only beat the fighters around today for me it is to close to call.

What, after every man and his dog had beaten the **** out of Garcia? Some achievement that was. Joe Bugner had even mashed him a year before. In the fight preview Boxing News called him just an "acceptable enough" opponent. God knows what he was after Bugner smashed him with ease. And for Joe Bugner to have the confidence to steamroll a fighter from the off, tells you all you need to know about them. :yep

End of the day everybody knows that norton had 2 maybe even 3 wins over clay.

Then again i think prime wlad beats clay.

teeto it would an interesting fight dont you think ali really was a fighter that used his jab a lot and with wlads hands high and out in frony type of defence he may well of been able to pick off a lot of ali's jabs and lets not forget wlad leans back alot to make it even harder to land on him add that to the height difference and the fact that ali could be out jabbed and ali would need a real good plan

or am i just being silly

Especially since Norton won the third Ali fight and should have gotten draws in the second as well as the Holmes fight ... Norton would take Wlad's head off ...

Yeah, well Ali/Clay is not Wlad's kryptonite (that would be Joe Frazier imo), so it definitely makes you think about Wlad's chances. Wlad might have a better jab in the most tecnhical sense of the word, but it would be difficult to put that into effect against Clay with a serious view to dominating the fight on the jab, i just don't see how it happens, with Ali's so many dimensions of movement, it sounds crazy but he's just running around the ring and hitting you at the same time. Movement is such a big factor when it comes to a fight in the middle of the ring, which is defo where this one would be. I first realised that watching Duran-Barkley, Duran is so much smaller, shorter reach and all that, and i noticed how Duran wouid step to the side on an angle and all of a sudden the range was his. Barkely and Duran aren't Wlad and Clay/Ali, but that manipulation of range is what Ali is all about, and he does it at like a million miles per hour, i can't see Wlad winning personally.

no i would go for ali , but norton's first fight with ali made me think ali might have trouble with wlad .norton like wlad is nowhere near as fast as ali in foot speed or hand but norton was told to jab when ali jabbed and it work well it seemed to give ali a problem so if wlad employed the same plan for me anyway it would give ali a problem to solve

Good point. Alexvoice was talking about the Cassius Clay version though i think. Wlad would have a better chance against the version Norton fought i'd say yeah, like you say, his jab is a great tool.

What did Jones and Toney do at HW, how about beat a better Ruiz more convincingly than Chagaev  You keep bringing up Ibragimov as some notable win, but Ibragimov achieved little to nothing, laugh at Toney's wins but they easily trump Chagaevs and Ibragimov

What did Sanders do, ummm spark Wlad in 2 isn't enough? Tyson, Holyfield, Haye are yet more examples of top operators Wlad hasn't faced.

The agenda you smell is your own, Wlad hasn't beat any of the real top level HWs, who operated from 2000-2006, all the men I've mentioned are largely better than Fat Peter, Byrd, Shot Chagaev. But Wlad does make it top3 of the decade but Lennox achieved far more from 2000-2003, than Wlad has from 2000-2010, which says it all

I think Ali would make Wlad work so hard that he tires and stops him late. Wlad´s a big guy and has to fight conservative and very paced to not get tired. If you make him work hard enough he will get tired and very stoppable. Brewster I and Purrity proved that. That´s why I think someone like Frazier, Marciano would be a nightmare for him. He would have problems coping with the pressure mentally and would get tired.
