That’s the 1970s hair for you. As bad as long hair was anyway, it made no sense wearing it that long when the guy is bald.

He was taking a chance being swatted like that. You can’t just walk through punches like that no matter how light punching a guy is. He was lucky he didn’t walk himself into a knockout. As it was ken appeared to buckle ever so slightly with the body shots.

If he was as bad as you say, how did he get a title shot?

He won decisions on points. He was fast. He could never hurt anybody though.

I don’t know how Lorenzo Zanon ever got a title shot at Holmes. Then again there are several of Larry’s challengers for whom the same question could be posed.

Zanon was doing surprisingly well against Norton before he inevitably got caught. He and Alfredo Evangelista must've had connections with Don King, for all the opportunities (including title opportunities) they had against American fighters at a time when American heavyweights dominated.

And, hey, he softened up Evangelista and took his "0" so Evangelista could get a shot at an aging Ali without having to win another bout before getting that shot.

So you admit he was an ATG speed demon?

So are you saying that Lorenzo Zannon would beat Michael Spinks?

Because Zannon was a heavyweight and Spinks a light heavyweight.

Considering that the best guy he ever beat was Evangelista (worthless), I don't think so. Zanon never beat any body of remote note.

There is a nice interview with Zanon that you can Google. Seems like a nice, humble guy. He lives in Brazil, owns a nice chunk of land, and seems pretty happy.

ah yes, the great Lorenzo...uh, what was that last name again?

I seem to remember Norton ended up basically walking through him.
