Imagine this one. It would be an absolute classic,imo. Holyfield would build up a slight early lead,by holding the centre of the ring,with Norton advancing in that sideways stance of his,behind the jab. Eventually it would turn into a war with neither combatants giving ground. None of them had the single punch power to take the other out of there,so it would go the judges. Close unanimous decision or split one would go to the man who was that little bit bigger and stronger. Ken Norton.
Neither man really ever faced an opponent who was exactly like the other. Therefore, its difficult to draw a blue print for how one would react to the other stylistically. Given that Holyfield had the tendency to turn a boxing match into a slugfest and Norton wasn't really the kind of man who used the ring, I think they would end up trading early. Now Holy didn't have the kind of KO power that Foreman or Shavers had, but if these two were to fight at their absolute best, then Evander certainly had the ability to crack in his prime ( 1989 -1992 ). Both would take some helacious shots and there would probably be some clashing of heads on the clinches. Frankly, I think Holy's will, work rate, chin and inside skills would eventually wear on Ken. I'm thinking that Evander stops him in similar fashion to the way he beat Dokes.
