Whilst Norton could punch he wasn't in the same category as a Dempsey by a long shot .So how's he fare up against durable Willard ? Prime for prime .25 rounds .
Even though he was n't a dynamite puncher,Ken would still be too good for Willard and I doubt that Jess would have anything in his armoury that would hurt Norton too much. Norton via lopsided decision.
Norton lost to every top level puncher that he faced. I suspect that this would be no different. At best it takes a minor leap of faith to pick Norton.
Agreed but 25 rounds outdoors in the summer on either east or west coast out doors is gonna be brutal, Norton was well conditioned but 10 more than 15 is a tall mountain ......so one has to fight a well paced slow fight and the million dollar question is Jess finding that chin in the championship rounds ?
There are fights that have gone over 45 rounds (ex Sullivan vs Kilrain). But I don't know about any fight that was specifically set for 45. Closest I know of is Gans vs Nelson 1, which went 42 rounds out of 45
i tihnk willards power would be a bit much for norton, canny a warrior as he is. I can see him leading on the cards though if he pulls out all his Norty tricks.
Though with Sullivan Kilrain, it was LPR rules, so I don't know if that was actually longer than 45 3min rounds. The other thing is, while a few finish fights did go past 45, all the cases I know of, it was declared a draw, no contest or similar, or in the cases where someone won, their opponent quit on their stool. Gans-Nelson is the closest I know of too.
Yeah Andy Bowen Vs Texas Jack Burke, but it was a finnish fight, not one scheduled for 45rounds, and it ended in a stalemate with neither able to continue.
That's the punch I was thinking maybe the one that troubles Norton the most McVey tbh .So much weight behind it ,and Kenny s Chin maybe not made of granite . But it's if he can land frequently enough to actually do enough damage. And kens putting pressure on him ,Norton could be Savage.
