You also flat out said, "and probably had plenty of fighting experience as a violent teenage gang member/pimp."

    "And," meaning additionally, obviously.
Getting all hot and bothered because I read your post the way it was typed? Weird.

    From Jess Willards biography:

"He excelled at high-jumping and weight-lifting. He was proud of the fact that he as an excellent swimmer and able to beat any of the other boys in short distance or long distance swimming. And he was a great runner: "I could go out any time and turn off 100 yards in eleven seconds. This was fast enough to beat any of the lads in that section of the county, and I took many prizes at county fairs."

He also got into many fights growing up, and refereed bare knuckle fights, where he would ensure brawls didn't occur. There is also a good chance he took boxing lessons with the local trainer but it couldn't be confirmed.

The main point in the context of that post was clear. I was pretty sure Stevenson had been serious about boxing from a relatively young age. For you to ignore that part of the sentence and pretend that my sole basis for distinguishing his background and Willard's was his life of crime is just dishonest troll behavior. Is that your new niche now?

I also assumed that he had serious additional fighting experience because I knew that he was an enforcer in a violent street gang (that among other things, trafficked women) and that he beat a man into a coma in prison. I would have spelled all that out if it would have spared us all of this. Whenever he began his pro career, Stevenson was a violent young man--a fighter.

In terms of fighting background and introduction to boxing, Tarver and even Stevenson are nothing like Willard.

    Let us move on.

Well, that's the thing. You were "pretty sure," he had prior boxing experience. So it was an assumption.
His criminal background is not to be assumed, as it actually happened, therefor it was the more substantive portion of your claim at that moment (before you produced evidence of him indeed having prior boxing experience.)

    Like, hellooooo

It wasn't an assumption at all. It was me trying not to overstate my certainty about what I remembered hearing or reading somewhere a long time ago.

But if that was your honest interpretation of what I wrote then cool. Guess it was just an honest misunderstanding.

The Willard that beat Johnson would beat Norton, in my opinion. Jess would wear him down and finish him in about 10 rounds.
