Ken Norton vs Archie Moore

Ken by mid to 3/4 fght stoppage. Archie’s power doesn’t reach the threshold where Norton is hurt and sent down a one way slippery slope. But I wouldn’t preclude, in all possibility, Archie perhaps shaking Ken up with one or two of his Sunday’s best against the grain of the fight’s complexion - but I believe Norton survives that possibility anyway.

 

This is about it. I doubt Norton really loses to any light heavy.

 

Norton by KO, Archie is an ATG at his weight class, but I'm not inclined to pick him over a near-elite to elite heavyweight, and Norton fit that description. But excuse me if I don't feel totally confident about this pick, and Archie packed enough punch to where if he came out going for it early and made Norton back up ...

 

Yes Moore didn't have the success at heavyweight like a lt hvy but he had no business goin 8 rds w Rocky and did better against Ali, as an elder statesmen, than he should've despite being outgunned both fights.

I do think Norton wins but Moore still had respectable power moving up. Not enough to spark Norton imho so I do think he losses but I think he does better than a lot of y'all would think. He's crafty enough to hang in there as long as he possibly can n pick up a couple rds against Norton.

Just my thoughts. As w H2Hs, all is speculation but I don't wanna undermine Moores run despite not getting a belt at hvy is all.

 

Archie was a great fighter but not a great HW. Norton takes him out.

 

I see this as about equivalent to Ken fighting Michael Spinks. Moore tries a bunch of tricky moves and gets aways with it for several rounds. Norton starts landing, hard, in the sixth and Moore is done in 9 at the latest.

 

Holmes wasn't a big puncher haha

 

And Holmes' style wasn't Ken's kryptonite, their battle was close and brutal for both.

 

I'll go with Moore by very close decision, would be a very tough fight for him. Can see knockdowns on either side, with Moore's superior boxing & defensive cleverness seeing him through a rough one.
