Norton stops him, Satterfield is too limited/crude, Shavers could at least put combinations together quickly with good technique and could counter. Edit: Satterfield also didn’t have the size and physical presence to make Norton back up, which was an important thing in being able to defeat Norton, because if Norton’s on the front foot, you can’t get as much leverage and also that’s where Norton’s technically better, if you get Norton against the ropes, that’s where he’s a sitting duck and that’s where his losses came, Satterfield couldn’t do that.
Pre Foreman Norton who could actually stick to a game plan against a puncher would win. Post-Foreman Norton who’d freeze up and get PTSD once he got hit with top-tier power would come undone.
Too much is being made of Norton's supposedly weak mandible in these threads, as though any guy with a decent right stands a good chance of stopping him. You have to take out the late career stoppages provided by Cooney and Shavers, two absolute monster punchers who Kenny faced when his resistance truly was fading. That leaves Foreman, which is no great shame. George was another apex puncher cut from the modern cloth; it's not shame getting starched by him. That leaves the somewhat embarrassing early loss to Garcia, a tall, rangy puncher who never really achieved much. There but for the grace of Angelo goes Ali albeit to a slightly more accomplished, rangy puncher in Cooper. It does happen, especially with young guys or ones brought up too fast. Now, Satterfield is no Shavers or Foreman or Cooney. He's really not even close. If he's facing a prime Norton, and not a green Norton, I think he does all the following, none of the leading and gets into a pressure cooker where he gets cooked.
Norton kills him by brutal Ko, Bob was a really good pound for puncher but no where near the level needed here. I mean the guy got stopped by Jake LaMotta
