Here's an interesting one. Norton is the better fighter, for sure, but he had trouble with punchers. Bonecrusher could certainly bang, but seldom seemed inspired or interested in keeping up the necessary work rate. Who would take this one in 12 championship rounds, both at their best?
If Bonecrusher went after Norton the way he did Witherspoon and Weaver, Norton would probably be a quick knockout victim. Here is Smith vs. Witherspoon, This content is protected Here is Smith vs. Weaver This content is protected Can't see Norton lasting any longer than Witherspoon or Weaver. Norton isn't elusive or versatile enough to avoid Smith.
Bonecrusher was my favorite HW back in those days. Funny guy and smart. Had some big wins. I was disappointed in his performance vs Tyson...he was scared to death.
He was disgraceful against Tyson. But he can beat Norton .... He has the power to do so ... Despite acting like a b1tch against Tyson
Norton by decision. Smith would allow Kenny Norton the time and room to box. Once Norton was warmed up and in his groove he was a tough out.
Norton ko losses to Shavers and Cooney were in the twilight of his career and Smith was no Foreman. Norton survives early onslaught to win a dec.
This is a highly dangerous fight for Norton, but I still would pick him to outwork Bonecrusher, who didn't always use his size and strength to full advantage.
