The picture quality in this clip is not exactly great, but it was a fun fight to watch for all but the minute that it lasted. Enjoy.. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RICD8ojVQbE[/ame]
Entertaining indeed. It's like watching a real-life version of a Fight Night player who keeps throwing nothing but haymakers. The overhand right couldn't have landed more if Norton had a magnetic fist and Bobick had metal in his head.
Bobick must have had flashbacks to his earlier humiliating loss at the hands of Teofilo Stevenson in the amateurs. The loss basically ended any hype he may have had and turned him into a bit of a sideshow. Of course one must question the decision to put Bobick in there with Norton after having only beaten washed up opponents, clubfighters and tomato cans up to that point. Maybe he should have taken on a lesser contender and then gone onto fight Ali and he probably would be viewed differently.
It was Bobick first big test and I dont think he learned too much in the area of Defense, and it was exposed shortly after with his 1 punch KO loss to Kallie Knotzee. Duane was a catcher
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQ02-9XUs5w[/ame] Now Duane looked full of promise at this point, notice Ali says, there are 2 ways to get stopped and the ref stopped it because Holmes wanted to fall
I don't know who was favored to win, but I'm guessing that a fair number of guys lost money on Bobick that night.....
For some reason Duane never really impressed me as a pro. He was an amatuer legend and he did beat Stevenson before that loss. He also had a few wars with Nick Wells, but it is funny Duane did hold a Pro KO win over Mike"Hercules "Weaver but Weaver also lost to Duanes brother Fat Rodney Bobick
Weaver was a non-established nobody when he fought in both those matches.... Different story 3-5 years later...
I'm thinking that given Bobick's status as a successful olympian and having a 38-0 record, along with Norton aging a tad, a lot of mother ****ers were picking Duane to clean house and probably early..... Needless to say they were wrong... Perhaps the same son's of bitches thought they had learned a lesson, and a few years later figured they'd change their thinking and bet on Norton against another over hyped great white...... They would be wrong again....
