Neither could hang with big punchers. Both had good pop but not overwhelming power. So who wins? I go with Norton by KO. Floyd's whiskers much shakier and Mandingo gets in an overhand right that gives him the edge, and Floyd cannot recover.
World Boxing did a panel prediction on this match in 2006 and all the experts predicted Floyd to in. If I remember correctly the panelists were Randy Shields, Dennis Rapaport, Manny Steward, and Ferddie Pacheco.
Are you kidding! Norton will not KO Patterson. Patterson Post 2nd Liston fight changed his style completely, to deal with fighters like Chuvalo and Bonavena, became more of a boxer
I would pick Floyd in this one....He might stop Norton as well, he might win on the cards! Either way Floyd would be my pick to win this one.
This one would have been a slaughter. Floyd just didn't have the size or durability to stand up to a near-ATG like Kenny Norton. I give it to Norton by stoppage within 3 to 7 rounds.
But Norton could have achieved what Chuvalo and Bonavena couldn't. That's because Kenny was taller, quicker, more adept on his feet, and more accurate with his combo punching than Chuvalo and Bonavena. Norton would have cut off the ring and blasted Floyd into oblivion. No two ways about it.
I think you underestimate Norton's power. He could hit with devastating effect, particularly with his right.
