Good thread topic. Funny thing is I never really thought about this match. Chuvalo was about as tough and durable as they come and packed a pretty good punch too. Norton could also crack and had good boxing skills. Both could go fifteen rounds. I’m leaning towards Ken by decision but it’s not a given for me.
I can't see Chuvalo figuring out Norton... at all. Norton was simply just too skilled. Norton by a laaarge number of points.
Chuvalo take him out around the mid rounds. Kenny is not taking George out and Chuvalo was a good boxer puncher, eventually he wears Norton down to the body, breaking him down till he gets caught one to many times. Chuvalo is a a real threat to anyone that gets close and fights.
Loathe as I am to pick against such luminaries as Fergy, mr magoo and furey, but I am with Balder on this one, not for one second undermining Kennys boxing prowess, fitness level and all round nuance, I just feel George would be too physical, too determined, and would drag Norton into the trenches for a close quarter battle of attrition, and test Kenny's will like no other, well not since the Holmes fight. Have always felt that ( wrongly maybe ) Norton was a somewhat on top fighter, happiest when pressing forward, backing up opponents, less so when being backed up himself, not that many did, so overall I can see Norton winning the early rounds with his upward style jab, and booming right crosses, providing George isn't cut badly, because that's the only scenario where I see him being stopped, I fell he would eventually close the distance, and putt a lot of hurt on Norton, and I wouldn't rule out a late stoppage, by either knockdowns or a RSF. One thing for sure, it will be a bruising and challenging fight for whomever triumphs. stay safe amigos.
Norton for me. I don't think Chuvalo had the raw power to take out Norton and he isn't out pointing him. Norton via decision.
