Ken Norton vs Terrible Tim Witherspoon?

People always say that Norton loses whenever he's against a puncher, why? Because He lost to George Foreman? Norton would outbox Witherspoon, he's not in his league

 

I think this could be a great fight.

 

Spoon is one of the most underestimated heavies there's been.
He'd stop Norton and if Don King has anything to do with Norton's camp Spoon would exact a lot of hurt on the former Ali conqueror

 

I also rate Witherspoon much higher than most. I think he takes this win against Ken and I think Ken would be on the receiving side of a lot of punishment.

 

Norton likely based on his elite athleticism and smart, awkward boxing, but Witherspoon can both crack and is a top notch technical fighter. Definitely a treat for fans.

 

Good fight but I give an ever so slight edge to the Marine.

 

Witherspoon isn't active enough to beat Norton in a distance fight, even Witherspoon at his best coasted too much. Barring Witherspoon's hail mary overhand right landing, i see Norton being the more consistent fighter over the distance and he wins the decision for me.

 

This,, add to the fact that Norton had a very underrated jab that would see him through to a victory

 

Norton on points. I could see him outworking Witherspoon here.

Great fight though.

 

I think this might indeed be the deciding factor. Tim at times had a disconcertingly Mike Weaver-esque tendency to sometimes zone out during a fight. I remember watching him against Tubbs, Smith I, and Thomas and at times finding myself shouting "do something, Spoon!".

Norton outworks him and wins, but it might be a SD. I don't think either would end up particularly hurt during the bout.

 

Great jab for sure, people look at Ken and see the loopier punches more than the jab, which is a mistake.

 

Tim looked like he was definitely in Larry Holmes league.

 

Tim early ko as he lands the overhand right. Norton couldnt fight backing up

 

Although Witherspoon was a good fighter, I think Norton is too busy and outhustles him.
