Honestly, Norton had one of the best HW body attacks I've ever seen. He may be no Frazier, but the guy could really, REALLY dig shots to the body. He hit Ali with one that literally folded Ali over and had him visibly hurt, in actual serious distress. Compare that to what Foreman and Frazier failed to do going to Ali's body. Thoughts?
Norton put on constant pressure for 15 rounds. A tough night for anyone who can't get to him early. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bjrnhr1XdJQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ig2ls6_Wqmw 7:00
Which round of which of their fights did Norton have Ali in distress from a body shot? I'd like to see it.
Please go to Youtube and look up Ali-Norton III. It happens around the sixth round. "Distress" is an accurate word. I don't believe I ever saw anyone, not Liston, not Frazier, not Foreman, not Shavers, not Larry Holmes, cause Ali to double up in obvious pain the way Kenny Norton did with a single punch.
Norton was wonderful body puncher. I scored all 3 Ali fights for Kenny thanks to that constant pressure on Ali's abdomen, ribs and leaver. How did Ali manage to survive all those shots - I don't have ****ing idea.
I remember that body shot ! As I have posted elsewhere,in some ways Ken Norton was a tougher opponent for Muhammad than Frazier was.
Great A has provided the proof for the pudding! ps Nice to be endorsing you, instead of the opposite!
He certainly laid into Jimmy Young's body and derailed him for part of their fight, once Ken stopped, Jimmy laid into Norton.
Well......that punch slipped through Ali guard and caught him in the pit of his stomach. I would say it was not the force of the punch but that it was quick and caught Ali off guard. There is one left hook to the hip Frazier hits Ali with in fight one where he winces and then moves to his left in obvious distress. I believe Mildenbuger also hurt Ali to the body with a straight left. Other than this, in terms of body shots, I am sure Ali was hurt but did not show it. He was rock hard to the body plus he was a master of not revealing that he was hurt. Ali was tough.
If Ken Norton managed to get you on the ropes or in close, you would feel the pain. He had a very intense and effective body attack. I love it.
