'People have always asked me how I got my sculpted physique. I can only attribute it to good genes. Honestly, I never worked out with weights, and that includes when I was boxing professionally. Everything, the physique, the talent, the finesse, are gifts from the man upstairs.'

    - Ken Norton

It's that time of the year again. ;)

This was written in his book. He's very bluntly honest in his book about his failings, such as laziness having hurt his boxing career (and his track and football careers). I don't see why he'd lie about this. He was born with god-tier genetics for aesthetics. Someone's got to be.

It does happen. I once saw a random homeless dude walking around drunk/mentally ill, dirty ripped jeans, dirty feet no shoes, no shirt, who was absolutely jacked. And the dude was old, he wasn't even young.

Shocked to hear he didn't work out with weights. His calisthenics game must've been S-tier.

He said he never lifted weights til after boxing, same as Mike Weaver about genetics. Of course training he did as a boxer helped, I knew one guy in the Navy that was built like a brick shithouse, I mean he was ripped cut, had an incredible physique. He did lift weights, but his muscularity was down to good genes. I could have taken steroids, etc, and probably have never gotten as muscular as him. I remember he had those peaked biceps, my arms are big, but I don't have that bicep peak, you pretty much have it through genetics or not.

Kenny had muscles in places most people don’t even have places.

God can give Ken Norton a Greek God physique with expert boxing skills but gives some children cancer. I don't like that god.

Foreman always joked they didn't like to take their shirts off next to Kenny.

They say he was born on Planet Fitness. That could explain a couple of things about his genetics.

That was the “other”, informal Norton Rule - avoid any physical comparison with Ken as much possible before the actual fight.

Tbh though, Foreman’s physique wasn’t shabby and he made Ken appear somewhat skinny.

Jerry Quarry was quite tuned into the deeper insights re his boxing contemporaries during the 70s.

Jerry only nominated Earnie Shavers as having lifted weights during his career - Jerry made real time note of same as an announcer for one of Earnie’s fights - vs Henry Clark II maybe?

    Fury?

After God made Tyson (F)Luke, he broke the mould.

No same man would ever be born of woman again!

Or was it that God accidentally picked up some used and partially broken moulds when he created The Gypsy King in the first place? -

Tyson is perhaps a piece meal of the discarded, broken moulds for Willard and Galento - ultimately creating The “Willento” - The Twenty Two Ton Giant?
