Ken Shamrock returns to action for February Wargods/KSP event

UFC hall-of-famer and promoter Ken Shamrock, who was a last-minute scratch from his "EliteXC: Heat" main event with Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson back in October, will return to the cage for a Feb. 13 event co-promoted by the California-based Wargods promotion and Shamrock's KSP organization.

The event, "Wargods KSP: Valentine's Eve Massacre," takes place Feb. 13 at Selland Arena in Fresno, Calif.

Although the fight card is not yet official, a press release from Shamrock's management team sent to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkies.com) stated the event is expected to feature the likes of Shamrock, Tonya Evinger, Jennifer Tate and Ken's son, Ryan Shamrock.

Ken Shamrock's opponent has not been announced.

Also scheduled to compete at the event are Wargods heavyweight champion Lavar "Big" Johnson, Buddy Roberts, Mike Moreno, Isaac De Jesus and Zoila Frausto.

Shamrock, who turns 45 in February, was expected to fight "Kimbo" on Oct. 4 at what could turn out to be EliteXC's final CBS-televised event. Despite heavy build-up for the heavyweight bout, Shamrock suffered a cut near his eye while he was warming up on the day of the fight. He went to the hospital and received six stitches, and Florida's athletic commission wouldn't clear Shamrock to fight.

Preliminary-card fighter Seth Petruzelli, a light heavyweight, instead took the fight and famously defeated "Kimbo" with a 14-second TKO in the night's main event.

Shamrock (26-13-2) hasn't competed since a March 2008 Cage Rage event, where he suffered a first-round knockout to Robert Berry. It was his fifth consecutive loss and his seventh defeat in his past eight fights.

Shamrock, who competed in the first UFC event and has been fighting professionally since 1993, has long discussed the possibility of a fight with half-brother Frank Shamrock, which would also likely take place in 2009.

    Why? :think:patsch

Seeing as how Ken was TKO'd before his last fight even started - I'm predicting a KO at the contract signing.

Nothing wrong with him fighting in small time shows as long as he can still pass a legitimate medical exam and not some sham in some weak state with no commission.
