Sorry CST. Earlier today saw Ken Shiro [real name Kenshiro Teraji, though he goes by Ken Shiro] make his move to the Flyweight division to battle against Katsunari Nagamine. Ken Shiro made his debut last year easily out pointing Heri Amol and later went on to beat some Thai novice before stepping up to fight Nagamine today (who was 10-0, 6). Whilst still a novice the news from Japan is that he's going to be fast tracked to a title later this year and moved up via a very fast learning curve. His father, who runs the BMB gym in Japan, is Hisashi Teraji a former Japanese Middleweight and OPBF Light Heavyweight champion. Hisashi is guiding his son's career and seems confident that he is an exceptionally promising young kid. Debut Vs Amol [YT]vbwU9WPeT1k[/YT] Bout against Phuwanai [YT]wdvd45WINWU[/YT]
Fantastic young fighter. I was highly excited about him when I was researching him ahead of his debut. I suspect he'll be something very special and today's performance certainly showed glimpses of that.
Have at it BP, do as many as you can. A lot of these guys slip through the cracks and they deserve to be seen.
The kids most recent bout... Brilliant! 3 fight novices showing every thing a fighter could wish to show. [YT]OfnhetDFdbQ[/YT]
I was worried for him ahead of the Nagamine bout but he looked sensational in there. I'd not be shocked to see him fight for the vacant Japanese or OPBF Light Flyweight title later this year. Yu Kimura is rumoured to be vacating the Japanese belt, to fight WBA champion Taguchi, whilst Taconing is expected to vacate the OPBF to fight in a WBC eliminator. Although no one will pretend Light Flyweight is strong right now it does appear to be really interesting and a lot of noteworthy bouts are being made with the likes of Mendoza, Guevara, Nietes, Rodriguez and Petalcorin. It might just be set to become a very notable division in the next year or two.
Ken Shiro will fight for his first title on October 12th when he faces unbeaten Filipino Rolly Sumpalong (9-0-1,4) for the WBC Youth Light Flyweight title.
Thong is one of the better Thai prospects imo. Still thought Pena gave him a good test. My guy Kongputorn appears to have vanished
I might do a thread on him in a couple of days, I wish the Jap fighters would have as much footage up as the Thai's:-(
