Excellent reasoning. You start a thread about Kendall Grove and now you're blabbering on about Shane Mosley. You should write to Kendall and tell him you'll train him. Some excellent advice you got there.

Kendall Grove is suffering from Tommy Hearns syndrome. The height for the weight he fights at is detrimental to his cardio in later rounds and his punch resistance

And he doesnt have the skill, heart or ko power of Hearns, as well as no reach knowledge

That's too high an accolade. As Hearns is an ATG in boxing who had great success at the lower weights. Grove's on the other hand is just a tin can.

I don't know what makes fans think that a guy who is 6ft 6 at middleweight automatically has to be good just because of his physical size. The reality is Groves is just a really average fighter with average skills. If his trainers couldn't get him to use his physical attributes to his fullest there's dam sure no way a bunch of MMA anoraks like ourselves on this forum are going to figure out that conundrum. Groves is a C+ fighter. It's not any more complicated than that.

I think if Grove trained with Manny Steward for a bit, he'd have a far better understanding of Reach Knowledge. Then we would start seeing him get the kod, and make mother****ers bitchblike.

I was just countering the assertion that Grove didnt make the most of his attributes. Hearns did, and only lost to the best like Hagler and SRL in his Prime, where the height was both a strength, and ultimately a weakness later in those fights. Grove is a no mark in MMA terms, let alone compared to Tommy, and just because he's tall doesnt mean he's a wasted talent.

I was in no way comparing him to Hearns in skill and achievement, who is my favourite out of the big 4 of the 80's

Coming off of TUF, I think Kendall Grove showed a lot of potential. He had the potential to be a lot like Miguel Torres. He was slick with subs and was very good at using his lankiness to catch guys unaware and set guys up to slap subs on. He had the potential, and was on his way to being a submission wiz.

He just sucks at standup. He used to be the sort of guy who appeared to always be thinking and coming up with a scheme to defeat his opponent in the ring. Lately he seems to be just reacting to his opponents strengths.. He just doesn't seem to be able to overcome, or counter what his opponents will.. When he was looking good, he looked great.. When he looked bad, he looked helpless.
