Dude got stopped by Lamont. And it's been like half a decade since he's fought. He gets bodied by any welter in the Top 10.
Hope he doesn't need the money. He probably never made that much money boxing sadly. He likely only got 50k fighting Garcia IF that. Hardest "sport" in the world
Victor Manuel Cayo was a top 15 (actually nearer top 5) 140lber when stopped by Peterson, and prime Mermelada would be a very strong contender in this light welter era. Chamaco Santana was a top-10 contender at the weight as of when Peterson stopped him (and his only previous loss was a farce of woefully bad officiating; he was basically worn down with fouls by a very dirty fighter, dropped and then waved off quickly despite beating the count) He stopped 20-0 former 2-time Olympian and world amateur championship gold medalist Willy Blain. He stopped Humberto Toledo, a tough Ecuadorian journeyman (who over the course of his career climbed from featherweight to middleweight, and went 8 & 10 rounds respectively with punchers Randall Bailey and Breidis Prescott before losing via DQ on both occasions) who had only been stopped thrice before in 38 bouts. He stopped John Brown, one of only 5 people to do so in Brown's 22 year long career during which he fought EVERYBODY. Lamont stopped him faster than Shane Mosley. Brown went the distance with both Chico Corrales and Miguel Cotto. Peterson has a relatively (for a marquee fighter/champion) low KO rate because a) he has more of a workrate-based, point-scoring style and has that bad American amateur habit of barking when he throws and not sitting down fully on most of his punches and b) fought a lot of durable round-goers in the early days when passing his prospect record and then fought a bunch of world class guys. Your ignorance of the recent (as in decade or so ago) history of the 140lb division =/= he never stopped anyone of note.
Ouch, that's a pretty through burning session. Calm down IB, you'll hurt the man!! All he needed was a quick lashing...
Watch again (or rather, actually watch it for the first time instead of just peeking at BoxRec to see if the scores mathematically indicate whether or not Khan was ever knocked down)
