Defo agree not getting in to a scrap with Reid early doors was the way to go but it just didn't suit Anderson to stand off and fight at that pace, he's gotta find a way to pick up rounds early if he uses this tactic again cause you can't always count on the KO
Right enough, Smigga has always had a watertight defence to keep off a guy like Kenny Anderson over 12 rounds
Come off it. Anderson got outboxed by a shot Reid, was taking punches all the way through the fight and only won after a tired Reid took a good uppercut. Maybe Anderson would have turned things round late on but he was losing the fight and looking awful. He makes Tom Dallas look slick and he has poor footwork. I'm not a big fan of Smith, and I don't rate him highly, but he's a level above Anderson.
Paul Smith actually is a fighter who could have done a lot better than he did, the next fight will answer a lot questions.
Jack, unless you count low blows, I didnt see kenny take any shots that had him thinking twice... I can understand to an extent people saying Reid did well cos hes a brit boxing legend, but the reality is that Kenny just took his time, & blew him away. Carl Froch has sparred hundreds of rounds with Kenny Anderson, & if people listen Carl will tell them just what Kenny anderson brings to the table. Trouble is, people probably dont listen to what Froch has to say about Kenny, so you will all have to wait & see whn he fights the smiggas of this world. Now that Kenny has his hands on the prize & people cant avoid him anymore? If Eddie Hearn delivers the fights its going to be an eye opener for anyone who didnt see what Kenny Anderson did to opponents as an amateur:bbb
Anderson did take some shots so if you didnt see that I don't know what your watching. Reid won the first 4 rounds very comfortably in my opinion he made Anderson miss and countered with some beautiful shots. Not powerful but beautiful. Reid tired and Anderson caught him with a brilliant uppercut which shook him to his feet. Anderson started really slow and look to be very confused with how the fight was going.
So in your opinion Reid put on a masterclass until he got out of breath and got caught with an uppercut? Thats EXACTLY what I mean about people watching Reids performance with rose tinted spectacles on. Not a mention of the numerous low blows Reid threw in desperation to ward of a stalking machine like Anderson... I aint gonna argue my good man. I understand people wanting to see good in Reid. The way I saw the fight though? Kenny was patient, let Reid unload early without stepping into engage, & once reid had shot his bolt Kenny took him apart. It was chillingly methodical. I love scotty Harrison, & kenny reminds me of a bigger even harder hitting version of my hero. take from that what you will.
There was no doubt Kenny was being patient and I do like him i was really dissapointing with the first 4 rounds and no doubt Anderson would of won the end but the first four was defiantly Reid;s rounds. The low blows was low there is no doubt about that.
grumpy looking ****er vs grumpy looking ****!.......cant wait! nah should be a good fight because both like to scrap. can see smith getting the better of the early rounds if anderson uses the same tactics as he did against reid, plus smiths a bit sharper and more mobile than anderson! but in the end anderson will be too tough and strong for smith, wearing him down and stopping him around 8 or 9! i think andersons one of those fighters who's better than he actually looks!
What's sad is Reid was so comfortable in the first 4. obviously Anderson was waiting for him to tire but reid wonevery round and he will have hardly trainedfor this fight he would have taken it for the money. He will be kicking himself because had he been fit he would have gone into the second half of the fight winning on the cards and would have stood a descent chance of winning I bet he's gutted
What people in this thread need to realise is that the people picking Smith are doing it in an unbiased manner based on THINGS THEY HAVE SEEN. As Dunky & every other Anderson fan, ESBer and boxing fan in general knows, Paul Smith does not have any fans. Not one. I actually think Smith stops Anderson late on, then beats Fielding, then gets all big for his boots & gets blammo'd by someone quicksmart.
On the basis of last night, and the fact that Anderson hasn't had one win of note professionally, I think Smith can win it. Looking forward to it actually.
