Kenny Bayless is a great referee.

Bayless interrupts the action too much for my taste. He's no different than Richard Steele or Joe Cortez in that regard when they were at their peak. All solid refs, but they'd get bored at times and inject themselves unecessarily into fights thus interrupting the natural flow of the action.

Refs who get involved as little as possible and still maintain order; Steve Smoger and Raul Caiz Jr. would top my list in that regard. Those two are the best in the business in my humble opinion.

 

Kenny Bayless did what he needed to do. They are old school fighters. Very easy to have them beat each other in a dirty tactical affair without supervision. Bayless was good.

 

I think bayless is great, but i will be honest I thought he was a little too hands on tonight....and I think it was nazim talking to him early in the night that made him conscience about it.....Same with cortez, when floyd's corner told him to watch for hatton's holding and roughhousing.....I think that **** does play with refs in boxing...

Just like when a coach gets a technical foul in basketball over bad calls during a game, it plants seeds of doubt in the ref...

 

He broke up the action too much for my liking tonight. He wouldn't let either fighter work in the clinch.

Great refereeing by Bayless, as usual.

 

I agree Bayless is one of the best referees in boxing, but Saturday night was one of his worst performances.

He, like all referees, ignored Mayeather's dirty tactics on the inside (palm of the glove pushing into Shanes face, a lot of pushing and elbow and forearm in the throat). Bayless ignored all of these relatively minor infractions but warned Mosley on equally minor offences.

Also he failed to do anything about the excessive clinching from both. Mosley when he was off balance and Floyd when he was on ***** street/on the inside.
