should be made earlier. I think Bayless got a secret 'sadist' in him he wanted the fight to go on. LOL
After round 8 it was obvious the fight was no longer competitive. It's a shame his corner didn't stop it earlier. Bayless did was any descent person would do, he stopped the fight.
granted i won money by betting on a 11th or 12 round stoppage but regardless cotto had taken enough...even worse than the margarito and his plaster of paris gloves....bayless did the right thing...this was no chavez-taylor situation...he wasn't fighting back after round 9 was taking a sickening beating...behind on the cards...stoppage saved him from more damage....id rather see that than manny put his lights out which i felt was going to be the result..besides cotto's corner should have stopped the fight way before bayless did..the most inept corner ive seen for a top fighter in a while
There was a lot of money on Pac to win by KO.. I was baffled by the stoppage to be honest, Cotto was about to duck out of it and keep running - like hed done for the 2 rounds prior. So, now we should see stoppages if a fighter runs from now on in - and doesnt offer much resistance, even if he is moving well.. Cotto looked like ****, but wouldve survived the last minute easily, its just that money speaks and it was all for the KO. Either way, it doesnt really matter, Pac is entertaining to watch, he probably deserves to have the KO near his name.
I agree that it should have been stopped in round 9, but given that he was allowed to continue, do you not think it was something of an injustice that the fight was stopped so near the end? Basically, Cotto was there for the taking in round 9 & Bayless should have done his job THEN rather than waiting to like two minutes before the end of the fight & then stop it! I like Bayless, but although I think he was right to stop it, he should have stopped it sooner! A case can be made that Cotto should have been allowed to hear the final bell!
