Kenny Norton Against Marciano? Anyone See Rocky Losing?

Norton would be winning until he isn’t.

 

With Norton's chin and Marciano's volume, the Rock would have no chance of losing at all.

 

You don't want to move forward on Kenny Norton, prime for prime, unless you're as big and strong as George. And you don't want to move backward unless you're at least as tall and fast as Ali. I'll take Norton by TKO15 or SD.

 

For ****s sake. Rocky tries to get inside one of the most underrated jabs. To be met by hooks, uppercuts and crosses. Ken leans on Rocky. Ties him up. Walks him around the ring. Rocky can’t reach Ken. If he does. Foreman and Shavers and Cooney LANDED more than one punch. After punch. Rocky lands one. Ken doesn’t fold up. He doesn’t stand there glazed eyed. Rocky at most gets Ken’s attention. Then boxed, fought and crushed by Ken’s more superior height, reach, speed, technique and more modern boxer. Rocky loses.

 

Anything is possible, but I don't think that a Norton win is very likely.

Marciano is all wrong for Norton.

 

Marciano's detractors on the other hand, would argue that Norton lost to every puncher he ever faced, so this was no indication that Marciano would be likely to be successful against other men the size of Norton.

 

IMO the question of the winner comes down to who has the better chin. Marciano wins

 

I would favor Marciano to win. But it might be more competitive than some believe.

 

And, no matter how old Ken Norton was in the fight, Marciano detractors would say Ken was past his best, or too green.

 

I believe Norton was a tier higher in generational skill difference, one of the sharpest HW jabs in division history + slick uppercuts and distance management of a prime Norton would confuse the hell out of Marciano.

 

Norton was KO'd by a Garcia. Now, you can argue that he was pre prime, but Norton always had a vulnerability to punchers. In his prime, before his Prime and after his prime. And I wager that Marciano hit harder than Jose Garcia.

 

I actually think Norton would win more rounds. But on the other hand, I think Marciano wins the fight by stoppage. Norton puts on a Walcott like performance before going down in smoke

 

This would not be a rout because I actually think it’s not a great stylistic matchup for Marciano but Rocky connects about halfway through and it’s lights out.
