I have said before that there are people here who believe down to the DNA in their bone marrow that Rocky’s heart and work rate would carry the day if he fought King Kong and Godzilla at the same time.

I don’t disrespect the man, I actually have him No. 5 on my current ATG heavyweight list (which is not solely based on who would beat who H2H). But the hold that this man and his mystique have on some folks and their psyches amazes if not befuddles me. I have some ideas, but I really lack a frame of reference for it other than I guess you had to be there.

Yeah a 5'10 185 pound 67 inch reach Marciano would beat every other Heavyweight in history apart from Ali......have a day off mate.

Marciano would get flattened by the likes of Liston, Foreman, Lewis, Tyson.

Judging by his history, I can only envision Norton being stopped early

You know, you actually seem like an all right guy so I am leaving it that that. You like Norton, I like Marciano.

This is a persuasive argument, also I believe Norton ko'ed Garcia a few years later. Norton was 6'3 215,,, Rocky 5;11 185. Reach 80 to 69 for Kenny and Norton had a fantastic jab and it would be the hardest one Rocky ever faced, and I'm not certain Rocky hit that much harder if at all over Norton. Ken had the advanteges of :
    height
    weight
    reach
    and had better boxing skills.
...and yes Foreman Shavers and Cooney were BY FAR harder punchers than Marciano

So a 185 pound Heavyweight hits harder than the likes of Lewis, Tyson, Foreman ? Come on
    ....

Marciano hits hard relative to his size, but your talking about him going up against fighters who are athletically better, hit harder, bigger, etc.

Forget the nostalgia trip for the moment use your common sense, theres not a hope in hell Marciano is beating the best Heavyweights with 40-50 pound weight advantage.

Ali feared Marciano more than Liston and Foreman because of his unorthodox style that allowed him to land very powerful hooks and overhands. Besides if you watch his fights you can notice he loaded his punches with the foot that stayed behind more or less like Frazier. Most of fighters use that one closer to the opponent. Rewatch him with Walcott.

Again what has this got to do with anything regarding the points I made ? The fact is Marciano is a Cruiserweight with a 67 inch reach. If you honestly think he would beat Super Heavyweights like Lennox Lewis, who is 6'5 with 84 inch reach with 60 pound weight advantage then your living in a fantasy world.

Why not? Tua went to decision with Lewis and Tua had less shots in the arsenal than Marciano.

Tyson managed, why not even Marciano?

Even in his era Marciano faced opponent much taller and heavier than him dropping them.

hmm I don't know. Maybe because Tyson's a good 30+ pounds heavier, much much faster, more athletic, more skilled, and more powerful?

I repeat. Marciano trained each day with a punching bag 100 kg heavy. His power, chin and stamina are underrated imo. Tyson didnt trained with punching bags so heavy...maybe only Foreman used all that weight to hit in his trainings.
