How would Norton do against the 2 conquerors of Lennox Lewis, assuming Norton is at his best against both?
Rahman doesn't have the diversity of attack or angles to get through Norton's cross armed defense, in my opinion. He was almost entirely a jab/straight right fighter without any real variety. McCall however is very much in the bull like mold of a fighter that could catch Norton with a powerful, wild shot despite Norton's huge advantage in skills and ability.
Yeah I'd pick Norton to beat both, but I'd also pick Norton to UD McCall, as McCall's chin was granite.
Norton beats both men on points. But neither are obviously with out there danger point s .Norton would have to be at his best .
This. Either one especially Rachman has the chance to stun and ko Norton, Rachman if he connects right paralyses him. But like you say Fergy he has the skills to outpoint both, can fight nice and long Norton, so you would have to pick him. I can also slightly see a tko over Rachman
Norton, neither have the precise, accurate combinations needed to take Norton out, which is what was needed. They both have power, but against Norton’s defensive, he has the cross arm guard and doesn’t move laterally or on the backfoot very well, but he does have a good defence and counters against single punches and one twos, he has a passive defence and punches off of your punches well, but because of his passive defence, he’s vulnerable to well placed powerful combinations because he’s a front foot fighter with a passive defence, he has nowhere to go against fighters, so he relies on being able to punch with them or to gain their respect, and if he can’t do either of those things, and they push him back and are able land powerful combinations, that’s when he’s in trouble. Against guys like McCall, he’d be able to defend easier against them because they don’t have the best combination punching, they’re typically less precise and tight, so he can see them coming and he’d be able to out jab them or the front foot, get inside and land body shots and left hooks.
