Akui means "malicious" or "evil" and as you can imagine isn't the most popular boys' name, mostly found as the name of anime villains.


So he was born "Pinkish-Purple (Lesbo) Evil Sushi Egg" and decided darn it, I'm doing something about this - and went with "Pinkish-Purple (Lesbo) Evil Sea Bass Sushi"

I love absolutely everything about this.

Between the naming lore and his dismantling of that ugly SOB, finally lifting the belt after six years of Dalakian holding it hotage, Akui has made an instant mega-fan of me.

 

I'm deeply offended on behalf of both Akui and yes, even Dalakian, that their world championship fight was put subordinate on the card to Nasukawa vs. Robles in the co-main slot.

Hate stuff like this, and the whole YouTube celebrity boxing phenomenon has only made it worse. There's supposed to be a pecking order, and championships are supposed to trump everything else.

Bothers me the same way non-title fights that aren't eliminators being scheduled for 12 instead of 10 rounds just because one or both guys is a certain amount famous bothers me.

I get that starpower sells tickets but there ought to be some measure of decorum and respect for the sport.

 

Glad I awoke when I did (nick of time), especially knowing they had this ass-backwards with Nasukawa vs. Robles after what should've been the co-main!
