That’s a terrible stoppage. And I heard the Kyoguchi fight was close and could have gone either way. I guess not another daredevil pick for me.

It sucks for both given that right before the stoppage by ref Akui got three good punches straight into his face with no defense and looked like he was going to go down atleast once in the next few seconds anyway. Had enough time to let Akui go down, get his 8 seconds and see if he can recover and get up and survive, or see if Kenshiro continues his rush for a 2nd down/stoppage.
    Kinda tainted both.

Let's all let this sink in for a second, if Akui went down but saw the final bell, in a match in which he should have had an unassailable lead in a fight he was absolutely dominating, he'd have lost on points. Had he remained on his feet and saw the final bell, he'd have been screwed with the good old reliable patented Majority Draw, the corrupt whores preferred scorecard of 2025.

Yet he'd still get ****ed on the cards. He should've been able to take three knees and still won a decision.

Not really, it was close-ish, but Olascuaga deserved the victory.

Seeing the replay I actually think Teraji could've gotten a legit stoppage where the card won't have mattered had Akui gone down and gotten back up if he continued the rush. I didn't realize at first but the last few seconds prior to the ref stop Akui's arms were doing nothing to even try to defend himself.

Suppose he drops at 1:35 and gets his 8 count, there is still enough time to see if Akui goes down a second time and manages to get up or not.

So it would've been a draw. I said I was smelling a very controversial draw coming.

I mentioned that Bam also unified two belts at Flyweight and @Macedoine62 felt the need to start a thread about him being overrated.

I had flashbacks to when I was a kid and watched Mike Weaver pull it out in the last round against John Tate. :)

Yep, heading into the 12th, the scores were Akui 105-104x3 and Teraji laughably with a 106-103 card. So had they not ****ed him with the bul**** stoppage, they have ****ed him with a draw. If he took a knee, they'd have ****ed him with a UD loss.

Damn. Seems like they treat foreign fighters better than they do Japanese fighters. Just hope Akui was well paid I didn't like seeing him leaving the ring the way he did. You can see he was heartbroken.

I think he was also more damaged in the fight than some give Teraji credit for, his legs were quite out. And the fact that neither him nor the team argued the stoppage at all (not that it would've changed anything) is giving me seconds thoughts on how much he had left to fight in R12.

I just watched the whole 12th round.

It's a bad stoppage. It's like ref had money on Teraji and he was looking for any opportunity to stop it.

Almost nobody noted but Tomoya Tsuboi make good professional debut in the same card with a win by TKO 2 against the Thai Boonrueang Phayom in the bantamweight. He is surely another bantamweight Japanese who will be awesome in the top level of this category.

Tomoya Tsuboi is the bronze medalist of Asian Games 2022 in Flyweight and the amateur world champion in Bantamweight at Belgrade in 2021.
