Apparently the whole card except the main event was streamed live on YouTube: This content is protected I just skimmed through, some good action, one really great KO... but it sort of further devalues the PPV if all but one fight was available to view free.
You mean Kyoguchi vs Kenshiro. He is a total POS because I'm a huge Kenshiro fan and I'm really mad he lost.
Actually your post from before about him and Ioka making the NYE show together confused me, forgot they were two divisions apart for a sec. But yes, the Kyoguchi fight is spoiled, and that sucks. Even so, and even being a Kenshiro fan myself...I'm not that upset. As chuffed as we all would have been for a domestic clash of superstars in a unification, that doesn't outweigh my perennial enjoyment of "gritty Cinderella Men having their day in the sun". This "keep you on your toes" aspect is among the sport's most endearing qualities IMO. Ken's young. He'll bounce right back, especially if this was just down to having been sick (nor do I begrudge Sato having maybe only had the door ajar because of Teraji being compromised...you show up and do the job on the day against who's placed before you, all we can ask)
I do hope Kenshiro takes a little break from boxing to be honest. He has had a pretty rough year - drunk driving accident, postponements and now being defeated.
I actually can't stand that ugly little personality less munchkin, so some part of me is happy about this.
So are Inoue and Ioka the only Japanese fighters you do like? Because don't Kyoguchi and Tanaka both rub you the wrong way, IIRC?
Wow, on the BoxRec national p4p ratings Yabuki has vaulted to #3 in Japan, behind only Kazuto and Naoya (just ahead of both of the unrelated Nakatanis in the 4th and 5th slots, coincidentally). I wonder if yesterday he was even ranked top 50.
He was around top 20 in their rankings, he was actually rated quite highly on boxrec for a light flyweight, he was ranked just below Kyoguchi before this win, 5th in the division. Also he'd have been #4 in the Japanese p4p if Murata wasn't removed recently for inactivity.
Makes sense, he was coming off a capture and defense of the national 108lb title last year. Crazy that Murata will have been collecting rust for two full calendar years on the backend of his prime - and that's assuming the Golovkin fight in December actually goes through! If not he will have spent literally all of 2020 and 2021 shelved; that is wild.
Even though may seem like it, absolutely not. There's several I like, both non-related Nakatani's, Teshigawara, Obara, Okada, Yoshino, Nishida, Shigeoka, Takesaka, Sisaki, Takayama and Nakajima are all good.
And for the record, I like Kyoguchi, that was just the case where I thought Vega had the style to beat him, and he probably did. Also, I forgot Murata and Maruta.
I know you dig the MW, but for some reason thought you were lukewarm at best on Hinata. Sometimes you are fond of the lesbo-looking twinks (ie Inoue) and sometimes you're not; hard to keep track.
Come on Kenshiro stans, how can you deny Yabuki his Rocky moment? This content is protected "I became a world champion, by defeating an absolute champion This content is protected Thanks to everyone.
