Here's a story from another one who KO'd "the Greatest". http://business.highbeam.com/410545...ot-heard-round-world-way-elmo-henderson-tells The evidence is now mounting that Ali's chin is at the very least suspect :nut
Alis chin was not suspect inn the least. The only person who ever knocked him down was Joe Frazier (the Wepner knockdown was not), and he fought some of the hardest punchers of all time: liston, Foreman, Frazier, shavers. Cassius Clay however had a suspect chin- dropped by Cooper, Banks, stunned by Doug Jones.
Back to February 1957,,,,,, Seems the Young Cassius Clay attempted to sign-in at the Chicago Golden Gloves for the Middleweight Division 160 lbs. But, the division was all ready filled with '16' entrants. Cassius wanted to enter, but had to move up to the Light-Heavyweight Division 175 lbs., where there was a couple of open slots available. I don't think anyone thought he would win the 1957 event, but the exposure of entering a high-level tournament was important. The 'most dangerous' entrant at 175 lbs. ,,,, Larry Vignaroli of Des Moines, Iowa.
Tuesday Night - July 29, 1969 The Auditorium, Miami Beach, Florida Just 2-weeks after winning an impressive 8-Round Decision over local Miami Beach Light-Heavyweight Willie McIntyre, 'Slim Kent' Green is back on another Tuesday Night Television bout. The 30 year-old, now at 22-1-0 (14 KO's), is looking to add one more win to his ledger, and is scheduled to face Franky Jones, a Southeastern Light-Heavyweight in an 8-Round bout. But Franky Jones (170 lbs.) does not show, and 'Slim Kent' Green is bumped up to face a local Miami Beach Heavyweight, 'Big John' Hudgins. Hudgins, a 24-year-old popular local, is a 6' 2" 195 lbs. 'wild-swinger', with a record of 12-5-2 (11 KO's). 'Big John' is strong, and can bang a bit. The 30 year-old, 6' 4" 'Slim Kent' at 175 lbs. is outweighed by 20 lbs., to the larger Hudgins. In the opening round, Green is able to hold the bigger man off, with long range jabs, and an occassional right, and keeps Hudgins at a distance. But in Round 2, 'Big John' is able to get through with some hard right hands which shake 'Slim Kent'. Near the end of the round, Hudgins lands a hard right and left hook which wobbles Green, and then hurts Kent with another right hand. In Round 3, Kent Green comes out shaky, and is immediately rocked by a hard right to the head, and wobbles. 'Big John' then opens up with a few wild rights, then lands a big left hook which drops Kent Green for the count at 0:48 of Round 3. 'Slim' Kent Green 'I Knocked Cassius Clay Out' retires after the bout. Professional Record...... 22-2-0 (14 KO's)
