...credit @Badbot for the scoop! The thirty-one year old Spanish slugger was set to face Przemysław Runowski exactly ten days from now. Upon withdrawing with an injury, he apparently decided to call it a day altogether and announced his decision on social media. "Here concludes a beautiful journey accompanied by the fans that have given me the best years of my life," the Basque brawler posted. Probably the wisest course tbh. With his style his CTE bump card was going to fill up fast.
most entertaining Euro chinny banger of the last decade they should give him an honorary Lonsdale belt for all the Brits he bashed
Feel bad for Runowski, though. Would have been nowhere close to a sure thing in enemy territory but he was in with a chance here at his what might've been a career biggest victory to date.
Ive never heard of him..maybe the American-and by that I mean as in all the Americas as I watch boxing from Spanish countries too-media has become too Americanized lol
Good call, I picked Metcalf to beat him, and was leaning towards Runowski beating him. Hs power bailed him out against Jez Smith, who'd dropped him twice and he was the recipient of a gift TD against Dylan Charrat. His chin mixed with his inability to make 147 was conspiring against him. 154 was a bridge too far and had he stayed around much longer, he'd have ended up being annihilated by someone like Pigford, Eggington or Cheeseman. So it's for the best.
It´s a shame he retired at 31. But it seems like it was the right thing to do. But I think he will likely be back once his body heals up a bit. Lejarraga was one of those guys who didn´t take a break after getting KO´d. He would get right back into the gym and prepeare for another fight. I think that is one of the reasons his injuries piled up and he had to retire so young. Two weight EBU champ, not a bad career.
