Personally I don't think there was a regression, he wasn't there in the first place. When a man wins a few easy fights people often draw a lot of unwarrantted conclusions.
Cintron has no jab had he employed a nice stiff jab and moved forward with it Feliciano would have been toast easy.... Feliciano is slow as a muthaf*cka .... Cintron could have won the fight with just a nice strong jab if he hurt his hand but apparently he doesn't even have a jab !
I will say this….It is obvious to me that Manny still has a lot of work ahead to turn Kermit into a great WW….another obvious thing that I observed on this fight and Margo’s fight, is that Kermit strongly believe that after he hit someone they are going down, and he ahs not computed that he will find strong boxers that will not go down after his most effective right hand or left hook, Margo proof it and Feliciano confirmed this issue for me…Feliciano took everything …everything that Kermit threw on Friday and handle it with ease…kept coming forward, and Kermit look demoted and at time desperate for the round to end….Punching power is a great equalizer , and no doubt Kermit can hit…but it is not everything…and mental toughness is something he will need to get before he can move up to the elite of the division…
Feliciano was one tough mofo. How many flush shots did he take on the chin? I can't imagine any of the welterweight elites could eat those shots and still fight like that. The kid was the energiser bunny in a crash helmet in that ring! Cintron's team thought it was a gimme fight and it wasn't. Steward offered **** advise and thought Feliciano was going to tire and was just waiting for that. Cintron didn't like being taken out of his comfort zone but still stopped the guy late. Kermit, though looking uncomfortable a few times, never looked in trouble. What's the problem?
Jessie Feliciano is a hard working tough trier who was trained by an amazing old veteran Eugene Honeybear Bryant.. Honey bear taught him some survival techniques and is in my opinion one of the most unsung trainers in the game.. If Honeybear was still with him he may have been victorious, but Jessie's father got greedy and tried to train him by himself, along with Eddie ( a black kid who has been serving as Honeybears apprentice for some time) Jessie survived as long as he did because of the way Eugene used to show his boys how to close a rangy fighter down to fighting your kind of fight.. It worked for a while until Emmanuel hit the panik button and told Kermit in no uncertain terms to start to win some rounds by otboxing the limited Feliciano. Kermit can punch , but as a Champion to be reckoned with .. Kermit is honestly a Muppet... BTW ... Eugene Bryant holds not one but two wins over Thell Torrence as a pro.. and also fought Don Fulmer. Gene Fulmers brother.. He once stated in a british boxing publication that Honeybear was the toughest guy he ever boxed.......
williams has D? how do you throw that many punches and have D? did he just leave that D at home agains margarito, cuz when marg got used to the pace, he got through to paul whenever he wanted?
So which round was he badly hurt, stunned, wobbled, out on his feet, on ***** street, taking a count etc in? When did he take a dozen hard unanswered punches? He didn't have an easy night's work. He didn't like it. He made a mess of it. Get a grip.
at what point was cintron losing the fight? he lost a few rounds, but that's it. never was he even close to wobbled. frustrated, maybe, but that's it.
