As for Kermit Cintron, based on a recent press release he sent out - which made nary a mention of Williams – it seems that he wants no part of him anytime soon.

"Let's face it," said a rather perplexed Goossen, "here we have an agreement to face Kermit Cintron on February 2nd, and he wins the fight in November. He looks fine for five seconds until Paul crosses his mind. He all of a sudden is withering around on the canvas. We're told that he can't fight on February 2nd, but if we would move it to March he would do it. We didn't want to go to March and that's when the hunt went on for Paul. It seemed like I was giving away rubles rather than U.S. dollars because no one wanted to get into the ring with Paul but Quintana and one other person.

"So we went back to Cintron and said, 'OK, we'll go to March, we'll reschedule it as late as March 29th,' and we were told that, again, he couldn't be ready by March. So now, we sit back and we see this press release go out where not only does he call out (Miguel) Cotto, he called out every welterweight I think back to the '70's - except Paul Williams. It really struck us amusingly.

"I mean, how much more clever can a person be on saying, 'I don't want to see Paul Williams ever again in my life, on a contract, or in an article associated with my name. It was really something I've never seen in the boxing business. Here we got the contracts that have been agreed to and you pull out because you're injured. You're given an extension to fulfill it and you say, 'I want to fight Paul but I can't be ready in March' and then the next thing you got this press release going out mentioning every welterweight but Paul.

    "It's an embarrassment to Kermit."

It's clear Cintron wants no part of Williams, but he isn't the only Welterweight.

On the other hand, Cintron had a deal in place and backed out, bull**** move.

After what he saw Williams do to Margo? No way he wants anything to do with Williams. But then, neither does anyone else in the division.

Exactly everyone at 147 will duck Williams.

LOL, quotes of the year so far. And you gotta feel for Williams and his team. Kermit Cintron is a chicken who will be fried once he steps into the ring against a fighter like Clottey or Margarito. I wanthed to see his a** on the canvas against Williams but it seems I have to be satisfied with Cintron being on the floor against Clottey or Margarito - again.:rofl

Cintron knows Williams will whip his ass, pure and simple:good
It is embarassing and it goes to show Cintron's weak character again.

Seems like the only top WW willing to fight PW. . . is AM. The first fight was damn entertaining, a rematch would be more than worthwhile.

Kermit's inconsistancy and heart will be his demise....I would actually feel bad for Paul if he lost against the likes of Kermit. The irony here that everyone has yet to point out is a confident Kermit has the ability to put every WW in a body bag.

Quintana's a tough customer. He could make Williams look bad. I think Cintron weaseled his way out of the Williams fight as well. I would really like to hear from Cintron about what he thinks of the Paul Williams fight. Too much risk and too little reward? I think a victory over Williams would definitely catapult him to top contender status alongside Cotto or Mosley. I think Cintron's management is misleading their fighter by telling him to avoid Paul Williams. It's starting to look like Cintron doesn't want anything to do with Williams.

Something tells me had Cintron dropped Feliciano, he would be all set up for Paul Williams. Feliciano showed how one dimensional Cintron is still and thus all the hand injury BS started.

As per Quintana/Williams, Quintana beat Joel Julio and was competitve with Cotto for a few rounds of their fight so he's no slouch. However he's just not quick or consistent enough to do any significant damage to Paul. Williams wins a safe UD over Carlos.
